I tried to follow the installation guide, but when I tried to download the latest patch I was asked to enter my 'Administration System Login' details. What are they? Sorry I just haven't downloaded any mods here before.

Well just finished my first GC on LSA. Played as the Germans, and I have to say it was the most fun I've had with any CC game. Here are some of my boys that performed heroically.

Thanks for all the input guys. Decided to go with LSA in the end. Just waiting for Matrix to ship me the right game after a little mixup! Can't wait to start playing around with it. Want to try and fix a few things before starting a Grand Campaign as the Axis, probably add a few more tanks, more protection for AT guns and more German squad choices.

PostForum: The Mess   Posted: Tue Dec 17, 2013 1:19 pm   Subject: LSA or PitF?
Hi guys, haven't bought a game or played much in a couple of years. But with the new releases Im interested in getting one as a small stocking filler. I only play single player GC so head-to-head problems arent really an issue. Just looking for people's recommendations. I like to play as the Axis and engage in good old tank warfare, despite its flaws in this series. Im leaning towards LSA because I never played any games in Operation Market Garden and have TLD so have Normandy covered. But is PitF that much improved that you'd recommend it over LSA? Didn't really like the screenshots of the fog to be honest, but the element of being on the offensive with the Axis is quite appealing, that's what put me off TLD, when playing as the Axis I'd have to just sit and wait for the pathetic offensive attempts of the Allied AI. Don't really put enough playing time in to justify buying both. Thanks for any input!

hey davidssfx

i have a question that is a little off topic. I noticed in your BG you had the right icon for the Tiger. When i added the Tiger to any BGs the icon came up as an infantry group. I was wondering if you could help me change it to what you have??thanks

PostForum: Close Combat The Longest Day   Posted: Sun Jun 13, 2010 2:26 pm   Subject: Re: how long does the grand campaign go for?
i would definitly think the GC needs to be extended. In terms of days anyway, because when playing as the Germans the armoured units come too late in the original to have any real impact and i barely got to use them at all.But i did try editing it but it got WAY too confusing...hope someone out there will try to extend the number of days and maybe reduce the number of turns per day.I found that the Allied battle groups got depleted VERY quickly and by the 9th of June were no match for the oncoming panzer forces, but then it ended!!

interesting to hear sum of u guys are watching 'the wind that shakes the barley'.i didnt know it was that popular outside ireland..very good movie though, especialy if u understand the history and context its set in.however it is quite biased and anti-british and could easily be mis-interpreted...if your interested in irish history of the same period id advise watching 'michael collins', not as good as 'the wind that shakes the barley' but still a decent watch except for julia roberts disasterous irish accent!!

Does anyone know how to get new unit icons for the Battlegroup selection screen? The stock ones are quite boring and some new units i added (like the Tiger) don't have any icons, just a stock infantry group.

And how would I change the icons for the units in the first place???

Thanks in advance

PostForum: Close Combat The Longest Day   Posted: Mon Jan 11, 2010 2:35 pm   Subject: Infantry Squads
Does anyone else think that the stock infantry squads in TLD and even WAR are completely inadequate?

My first CC game was COI and i found it a great game but after discovering the joy of the strategic map in GC's of other CCs i started playing WAR and TLD.But I had gotten used to the 7-10 man infantry squads of COI.Not only are the teams in COI larger but they seem to have better weapons aswel, especialy the German teams.

I was able to mod the WAR squads to my liking but find the TLD day workbook impossible to use.Is it just me that has this problem?

PostForum: Close Combat Wacht am Rhein   Posted: Fri Aug 28, 2009 8:02 pm   Subject: Re: Editing Forcepools
Ok so I tried to put you guys advice into practice but nothing actually changed in-game.I started by extracting the zip folder 'WaR Workbook' and saving it.Then I opened it again and saved it under a different name.Then I edited this second copy of the workbook by;

opening up a new worksheet, copying & pasteing the Forcepool I want to edit onto this blank worksheet, editing the Forcepool and copying & pasteing back over the original Forcepool worksheet and then saving it.

This did not work.I also tried just editing the Battlegroup by entering the Team Number of my desired unit over an original Team Number but this also did nothing.I feel stupid because I'm quite sure where I'm going wrong is that I'm only editing the excel workbook (which after all is just an excel spreadsheet and does not have any bearing on the game data,am I correct?) and not any of the game files. But I don't know what these 'game files' are or where to find them.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!!

....oh ye...senior drill, bashing my computer screen did nothing!!
Thats a good question, beacuse I ran into the same problem with the workbook....couldn't save anything.  I ended up making changes using basic notepad and didn't have any trouble with it.  I just had to use notepad in conjunction with the workbook especially for the headers.
But does that actually change anything in the game?If so,do you have to copy and paste the whole workbook to notepad or just the page that contains the changes you have made?Could you try and explain how to actually make effective changes...What are headers?
I think you need to edit the Force Pools in order to get them. You can try adjusting the settings to Requit, but I dont believe thats enough (but not sure)

For me all the #'s and flipping back and forth from the Teams page is just too much, and I have no intrest in trying to remember them all.
However crude it may be, it seems to help me understand it a little better.Im trying to work on something that makes it easier to understand and hopefully make it easy to edit.
Sort of looks like this.
Maybe by the weekend,I dont know.
Hey,

Thanks for the help I really appreciate it.So i opened up the workbook and edited the forcepools to my liking. But I cannot save it because it is a 'read-only file'.How can I get to save it?And once it is saved does that mean the changes I made will be in the game the next time I play,or are there more steps to take?
