These first advice brought their fruits : A little smoke enabled to make one of the panther blind (a real buccaneer ).
Another anti-tank gun at the right place enabled me to neutralize two others of them...
Result, some pioneer succeeded in creating a head of bridge. I preferred to use this unit which even if it is a little slower, is more efficient against a possible armoured tank met
Thanx again, we often forget the use of smoke.
But it's not finished... |

Here the scenario: For some day I have tried to chase 12th Pz SS of Colombelle. I succeeded in pushing back these forces on the other side of the river in the north.
The German force are composed of at least 5 armoured tank ( Panther) whereas I have nothing any more but some PIAT or AT gun to face...
My question is : how to cross this rotten bridge without being made draw above like a rabbit ?
A positive point all the same: the German troops being encircled, have neither ammunition any more, nor fuel.
Is the this reason for which, the tanks does not move or is this due to the bad IA ?
is it possible to win a battle if the opponent has a full lack of ammunition or fuel ?
I hope that you will help me to find a solution great strategists you are ! If not I am afraid which this pocket will still be there after German capitulation... |

Hello!
I would like to know how damaged or immobilized tanks are taken into account with the following turn.
Can they be repaired ? What gains a player has to kill or not the crew ?
Sorry for my English. This is a Google translation... |

Bonjour !

I can indeed add since this weekend : "Letters from Iwo Jima" even if I found it a little too long and too much "intimist". I mean : the movie is only about few characters and doesn't show how many soldiers were involve in this battle. |

For all I know allied air power was not very effective in hunting german armor. However, the the relative low no. of tanks lost due to CAP might be because germans tried to move during the dark hours.
In GJS it is my experince that a Typhoon attack results in a kill maybe 1/3 of the times. Spitfire run doesn't drop bombs.

How can u predict which kind of plane is going to support you ?

First I hope this topic is in the right forum
This question come from a notice :
In the game, it is quasi-impossible to damage a (german) tank with aerial support.
However it is well known, that air-force was the best way to "kill" panzer. It is all the more true that fear airplane was a real problem to move armoured units. Panzer units had to move by night to escape "Jabo".
So my question is : would it be possible to improve air-strike efficiency and if yes, how ?
If the mod masters listen to me...
Could it be include inside GVS 4.5 ?
So many newbies questions... |

I agree with you. The thin red line is maybe the best war movie, I know. Most of people prefer saving private Ryan or Band of brother because main characters are hero fighting against the evil whereas soldiers in Thin red line are shown as humans with weaknesses (cowardice, personal ambition...). Moreover happy-end are more popular whereas greatest war movie have often a tragic end (Das boot, Stalingrad...)
I enjoyed particularly the beginning with the pillbox assault on the hill. |

The thin red line
Saving private Ryan
A bridge too far
Stalingrad (Joseph Vilsmaier's film)....
And for you ? Which one is the best ?
Do your know other great WWII movie ? |

Confirmation : the best way (only one ?) to beat such monsters is ambushing them. My favourite is to burn them with flamethrower.
For my very first time, yesterday, I faced a tiger (driven by a human) and I think my end was arrived...
Hopefully pioneer (I like this unit) was there at the right moment ! It was good cooking...
PS : It also works with Panther. |
