shortened a bit: ip.s.2. As far as i know it does not work this way with EU products in the States. A BMW 3.16 costs (basic version) costs 26.000 $-30.000$ in the States, in the city in which they are manufactured they cost at least 26.000 Euro. So if EU compnies can adapt market situation in the states, why cant matrix adapt to economic reality in the EU. Or are you looking for cows to melk. Btw. just because the Euro is high doesnt make us Europeans richer, so i dont see any reason paying you more than any other individual on this planet for one and the same game.

As long as there are diffences in the income from country to country, there will be diffences in prices.
Matrix' primary goal is to make money, if they can make more money by charging different prices, then that's what they'll do. Ie: A coca-cola is much cheaper in the eastern EU than in the western parts, same product.
When the €'s value is rising, this should normally make non european products cheaper in the EU.

Speaking of 2008...
I'm not playing many modern games, so I have a question:
Do many modern games have a decent AI - i.e. one that can actually use tactics?

I played most versions of the Command & Conquer and Age of Empires series. I have never had any problems defeating a single ai opponent. So I normally play against severel ai controlled players at once, or in some cases give the ai an advantage of some kind. A human player is almost always more challenging.
I think an ai's biggest problem is that it can't adapt to its opponent's style, it always plays its own game, this even goes for the very best chess computers.
If anyone has examples of other, please correct me.

Yeah, but on the other hand, downloading a leaked beta and then posting about it publicly instead of quietly notifying the company is very, very, very wrong too.

I'm pretty sure the company knew about the leak before I did.
I'm not advertising for everybody to go get the beta version. You probably wont like it at the present stage. I has returned to CCV (which I like CoI and CCIV do have a perfectly legal version of).
What I wanted were to inform a group of hard core CC players that the game were on it's way. Until my post not many were sure of that.
Same reason I havent shared my version with anybody.
That being said I do feel bad for the many people who now are under suspicion.

Well, if you want a scapegoat I'm an easy target.
I haven't shared my version with anybody, but still there are others who have the beta version, and they probably had it weeks before I did.

I sure hope they will fix the vehicle pathing before the game is relesed or else it will be an disaster, or else it was the elements in the map who screwed things up...

I had to use 10 minutes of gametime to move two Tiger II across the bridges!!!

Try with a Panther instead. The Tiger II is to wide for many bridges.

If the game is worth playing, then I will purchase it when/if released. You have my word.

Good to hear...of course, whatever asshole tester leaked this, just probably guaranteed at least one thing for the rest of us....that at the very best, the release will likely end up being delayed, because in the absence of the culprit stepping up and confessing...(and thereby risking legal action for NDA violation), all the testers will likely be dumped, and a whole new set of testers would have to be recruited.

To be honest I did'nt think of that.
I have no idea where/who the version comes from. But I doubt they will change their testing team because of it. The company is every bit as eager to get the game released, as you or I am.
I have heard of other games and movies where testers/vievers/editors each got an individual version, with a tiny differnce in each, so if the product were to appear on the web, the leaker could be caught.

Well , sofar I'm having problems beating the ai when it is defending, however I am not impressed when it is attacking me. It always goes after VL, and if the first is to well defended the ai tries the next one and so on.
I've found a couple of maps that are exact copies from ccv.

I thought that it would be of interest to the community that someone actually had some info on the progress of this game.

Facing another saturday night at home with the loving companionship of my laptop.
I just got my hands on a beta version of W.A.R. ( gotta love the abbreviation).
Theres still a lot of glitches and faults in it.
Theres a bunch of new maps and BGs, the total is now 64. Edit: 54 BGs, 64 maps. The strategic map is very large now
So far it works ok with my Vista OS.
Edit: No naval support, but instead there's artillary attack, morter barrage, air assult and a parachute thingy, which should be air supply, but i cant get it to work.
Edit: Each battlegroup has about 140 units for the allied/americans, and 80 units for the axis/germans, of which 15 can be selected, just like CCV. But each unit is also worth a certain number of points, somewhat similar to COI.
