Hi ANZAC-Tack

Managed to get it working now [I hope!] - eventually had to reinstall windows and ditch zonealarm!

Will be on Gamespy with the nomenclature Bonaparte [possibly slightly prentious I know but it has been my online moniker since Teamfortress days!]

Thanks for your help!

Hi Anzac Tak

Thanks for the comprehensive reply. Your router config looks quite familiar to what I've put in, but I'll work through it with your once again and see how I get on - good hint re the firewall, I'll also try that.

Cheers

Hi Mafi

Thanks for replying - sorry for the delay in getting back to you - was on holiday, and then messing with trying to set up CC5 on gamespy [aaaagh].

Where the problem happened consistently was in the Tanks at Minqar Operation, after retreating off the first two maps, my New Zealanders did stop the Axis in the Desert South of Minqar Qaim - so the game wanted to allow me to advance up to the Desert Approach map, but that was when all I got was the unable to deply message.

Hope that helps!?

Cheers

Hi All

I've spent the last 3-4 days trying to set up for playing on Gamespy. I have read all the stuff on this forum, plus on Gamespy, plus on other forums.

I have a Netgear DG834GT on Sky [who I believe tweak things slightly for their ISP purposes - they are a UK satellite broadcaster and now ISP as well]. I have set up the following services in the router menu
Services

6 CloseCombat1 47624 TCP
7 CloseCombat2 6073 TCP
8 CloseCombat3 2300 – 2400 TCP
9 CloseCombat4 2300 – 2400 UDP
10 Gamespy1 6667 TCP
11 Gamespy 12300 UDP
12 Gamespy2 27900 TCP/UDP
13 Gamespy3 28900 TCP
14 Gamepsy4 29900 TCP
15 Gamespy5 13139 UDP
16 Gamespy6 6500 TCP
17 Gamespy 7 6515 TCP/UDP
18 Gamespy 8 3783 TCP
19 Gamespy9 8871 UDP
20 Gamespy10 29901 TCP

and then set the following firewall rules, also in the router menu.

Firewall Rules

Outbound Services
# Service Name Action LAN Users WAN Servers
1 Gamespy1 ALLOW always Any Any
2 Gamespy ALLOW always Any Any
3 Gamespy2 ALLOW always Any Any

16 Gamespy10 ALLOW always 192.168.0.5 Any

I was running Zonealarm, but in my frustration I have completely uninstalled that and removed it from registry.

Still no joy Sad I've been testing my setup in Gamespy by creating a room and trying to launch the game with just me in it, and I keep getting the same result which is an error message

'There was an error which prevented the game from being launched. Check to make sure that the game is properly installed and that the path is correct.'

Checked that and it is properly installed and the path is correct.

I know that others have had trouble with netgear routers, but I don't know how they sorted them out in the end? Please - is there any help out there - I'm at my wits end!![/b]

First up - what a great mod - beautiful maps and sprites - love it.

It's kind of getting me down though in that part way through a operation or campaign I seem to quite often get a 'Unable to deploy' error, please restart.

Is there anything I'm doing wrong - is there any way round it to continue with the campaign?

Cheers for any help?
