Kingmaker from 1974 was possibly my first, the wars of the roses, I loved the game but very few would play because it was complicated and took days to complete. Ive just seen this one on ebay for £50 :O
Though its no longer made I read on wikipedia there was a pc version may still be available for download. Also played Risk until some mard arsed mate threw all the bits over the room in a strop, happened regularly lol Edit just found a free (I think) download of this gam, not had time to try it though
Thanks Mooxe, appreciated i'll be sure to try the mods, and thanks for the manual. I'd love to kook up on gameranger but my skills are extremely low, at least for now!
Forum: The Mess Posted: Tue Dec 28, 2010 6:34 pm Subject: Hello
Hi I stumbled across this place a few days ago after re-installing Company of Heroes, remebering why I uninstalled it I got nostalgic for Close Combat, my favourite ever RTS. Anyway, this forum has inspired me to re-install CC5, I think my favourite was CC2 but Im not sure if i can install easily on XP whereas CC5 went straight in.
I will get used to the game again and then I will try a few of the mods, in the meantime I have lost the CC5 manual is it downloadable anywhere?
Anyway its good to see a reasonably active community for such a fine old game i thought had died years ago.
In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
