I'd be all over this mod update if it came out. I was always a bit choked I could never get ahold of CC: Marines. This would a worthy update (especially the balancing bits).

I remember when I first found this community I installed mountains of mods and had many copies. But thats annoying yea cause of space concerns. One thing though that bugs me is how apparently the Config Manager is unable to locate Close Combat installed to a partition that isn't 'C:'.

For practicality I only use C: drive as a location for my operating system and have 2 other large partition for data. I do this to make it so that if I need to wipe out windows I don't have to worry about losing my files, but this also means that C: isn't very big. I just find it annoying that I seem to need to install CC to C: just to get the plugins to work, even though I can copy them over to another partition anyway. It really is silly when I'd want to change mods or update them. It just isn't practical.

Have I missed something or does everyone else really use C: and only C: Confused

ccIII mods used something simple.

a morter team, who fired 120mm, but looked like a single person.

also had indirect 88 air bursts.

and yes the wharf rocket trucks, but looked like a soldier, but sent 300mm of death...

CCV cound use rockets truck from cciv and do the same im sure, or morter team that fire air strikes...kind of silly, as ccv has naval, morter and air strikes as it is!

Thanks for the ideas. The reason I like the idea of a FOO is that it's a way of giving direct fire from a soldier without having to actually edit files to create extra barrages. And then it's also more easily managed since you can easily remove the FOO from your Company layout before a battle without having to change code.

I have been reading recently a book about the 4th Canadian Field Artillery Regiment attached to the 2nd Canadian Infantry Division in Normandy. Rather than just about infantry it takes the view of artillery men. And while playing VetBoB's Ardennes Mod I was using a Forward Observer and thought that I'd like to create a Forward Observation Officer for the Brits in GJS since the book I'm reading speaks of many powerful German attacks being stopped just by powerful artillery barrages.

So what I'm asking is for the experienced modders out there to maybe direct me to the appropriate modding tools and modding totorials that I might need to create a unit which can be used to call in Artillery Barrages.

I was thinking of something which combines the Nebelwerfer mod for stock CC5 and the Forward Observer of VetBoB's Ardennes mod.

I'm a total CC modding noob and I've only ben into CC for a little more than a month. Any help would be appreciated.

I understand that fact but the thing is that the battles themselves work fine. It's when I load up a campaign or operation that it crashes. This leads me to believe that it isn't amissing map file so much as it's something missing in the files which are responsible for the Campaign or Operation GUI which shows up before you enter a battle.

I can't think of another reason for that kind of screw up. The other thing is that I know it isn't the campaigns themselves because I created one with the create scenario screen and it also crashed.

I might also add that I installed Winter War and it also has the same problem only this time the battles don't work either. I've already re-downlaoded all the map files and extracted them to the folder again and re-unzipped the plugin file and got it all into the correct folders as it is described in the install file.

EDIT. Okay I got the VetBoB Ardennes mod to work properly. The Campaigns and Operations now function properly. I managed to do this by using the plug in system and a cd image of CC5. It took some work to figure it out but it works perfectly now. However strangely the same thing didn't work for the Winter War mod.

I might add that I find the Plug in system you guys have adopted for mods very annoying. The idea is good but I find the program which activates them to be rather restraining. Firstly it doesn't allow you to have multiuple installs of CC5 because it requires the game to be in a single folder destination and also if you happen to have deleted the original maps it says it can't install the new files because it can't remove the old ones.

I have a way I think is better that I came accross while playing a different game which has a thriving mod community. If anyone is interested in it I can gladly give it to you.

I have recently discovered this wonderful site and community. I love CC5 and I've just started to dabble with the mods available. I have already made GJS work and I tried out the Ardennes. It all works perfectly except everytime I go to play a campaign or operation it can't load any of them and instead crashes me to the desktop.

It should be noted that I have used the manual install option rather than the direct plug in way. I also have a more convenient way of installing the files with a special mod installer I have from using anotehr game.

When I unizpped the plug in files I followed the Install.txt file to the letter. I didn't have any left over files and the game works fine if I play a battle by itself.

In attempting to fix this I have tried both the standard Ardennes mod and the VetBoB one. Both yield the same result.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you want to install mods that require the whole plugin dealio you can just unzip all the plugins and manually install the files. A bit more labour intensive but still works. Did for me, mostly.
