Hamchi's tuturial says join network 'test' using password 'secret', but it keeps rejecting the password. |

Forum: H2H Multiplayer Posted: Sat Jul 19, 2008 7:32 am Subject: Dedicated H2H Campaign Opponent Wanted |
Hi y'all,
After a long undesired leave of absence from the CCS community, I have returned and looking for a dedicate opponent for H2H campaign. Newbie or veterans welcome. I am a little rusty, so it will be a great oppurtunity for a newbie to use the first few battles to hone their skills.
Ideally, I'm looking for someone who would like to do GJS campaign, followed by campaign Market Garden and Ardennes Offensive. But of course we'll see how we go with GJS first.
I prefer to play Jerry, but happy to toss a coin for sides.
I do have some special preferences:
1. Battles do not necessary need to take place, even if units share a battle location on strategic map. By mutual agreement prior to entrying any battle, either side may declare preference to not engage.
If both declare preference not to engage, then truce must be declared immediately on entering the battle.
This option is to ensure there are no forced battles when both sides merely wish to maintain currrent positions on battle map for whatever strategic reason. This allows for more option in what strategic battles we fight, rather than engaging in a battle merely because game engine decides a battle must take place.
2. Battles end after 20 minutes. I find 15 minutes is too short, and half hour too long.
3. Battle ends when force morale is low will not be an option. This is so blitzkrieg tactics can be a part of the game and squads are not forced off map simply because a front has collapsed.
4. Battle ends when all victory locations are taken is not an option. Clear dominance of the all victory locations after 20 minutes is the only way total victory can be achieved.
In addition, flexbility of play is required. While most battles will be full of action, opponent needs to be able to accept that the rare battle may be slower with possibly little action i.e. some battles may be characterised by stealth or low intensity repositioning. (This not likely to happen often, but need to be aware).
For my pleasure, I want to achieve some authenticity to combat. So my above preferences are to help avoid every battle being a case of men and arms unconscienciously thrown into line of fire to take victory locations.
If this sounds like something you might also enjoy, please reply or email ckis001 [at] hotmail [dot] com
I'm in New Zealand, so and Australisian or Southern Hemispheric opponent probably most suited for time zone. I would like to play for at least an hour most evenings (2 to 3 battle), and probably longer on a saturday or sunday. All subject to the rest of our lives of course. |

Anyone know how to make Norton Antivirus 2005 allow computer to access GameSpy rooms?
I've created general rules protocols to open above ports: 2300-2400 and 47624, as well as ports recommended by GameSpy, but still have trouble logging. Not sure if I'm doing the right thing.
All I can do is login into home page at this stage. |

Some of the beach houses were actually concrete block houses decorated by the Germans to look like seaside houses. I have no idea what beaches these were on, but I recall it was fairly common along the Alantic Wall. Maybe someone else has more info on that . . . ? |

Fact is you cant push people, even if only 1 of 20 new users becomes a regular, it beats soemthing like demanding activivty from users & scaring people off.
|
So true. One of the reason I don't bother with TH is the demand in filing reports. Another wargame group I once belong demanded activity reports once a month, plus battle reports. Simple as it was, I just couldn't be bothered. . .

youd be suprised how many people do eventually come back later on.
|
Again true. CC is my favorite game, but sometimes other demands deny time to play, sometimes for months. CC2 & CC4, at msngamezone I think, was really active once. I was also part of Platoon Clan. Six months later, when I returned, msngamezone nolonger catered for CC, Platoon Clan had ceased.
I followed some suggestion on CSO to find players at BHQ and GS. BHQ turned out to be dead, and GS, everyone was playing CC3 or CC5. I was even reluctant to join closecombatseries for a while, because it looked less active the CSO. But after I while I learnt that CCS was a far superior site. I hardly go to CSO anymore, except with tech probs sometimes.
Mooxe,
You doin a great job. Personally I hope you keep casual. No emailing, activity demand etc. . . Anyone looking for good squad level WWII gaming will naturally gravitate here IMO. |

Theft is theft.. since this thread has turned to this topic. Shopping it around is even worse.
|
Not quite. This thread has turned to the topic of BREAKING AND ENTERING verses OPEN PUBLIC ACCESS. The theft aspect is irrelevant. Poorly designed websites lacking in security that allow public access to files cannot be considered "backdoor/breaking and entering" entry, due to the public forum the information resides in. Consequently such access to files cannot be considered "theft" as, public display of files implies public access i.e. free for downloading. Such aquisitions amount to a person taking a pamphlet on display in a public place and then the owner claims theft when the pamphlet is taken. |

He's saying if you leave your house door open and your stereo is stolen, it maybe considered theft, but NOT breaking and entering. |
