mine works, however i seem to crash due to a sound problem, may be my sound card. tried to update the drivers but had problems with dell dl center.  something about not enough sound memory. other wise it's a blast to play, i completely forgot how devastating the calliope was.

Hey all, I'm back to playing waR again and find the smallish inf squads to be boring, i tried a couple of mods with no success and am hoping someone can create a simple mod to increase the size of inf squads, maybe place at guns into buildings.   thanks and sorry if i'm asking for too much.

and maybe ss units can get some better uniforms. lol

i don't like the beta patch too much, the new maps are cool but i just went back to the original version and added the real sound mod

hmm

what bothers me is that Georgia declared a ceasefire on thurstday night at 2:00 then launched a major attack at 4:30 against Ossetia. Not only that they took the first day of the Olympics as date for attack (remember that keeping peace during the games makes you civilized) but now after the Russians forced them back, they want a ceasefire again.

As for the US:
What do you expect as NATO-hegemon to happen when you start making allies in the garden of another regional-hegemon? Just imagine Russia or China would start sending military observers to Mexico to prepare to retake Texas...(hypothetical)

As for the history books:
Ossetians, speaking a persian-rooted Slav language, are no ethic russians but russians by selfdeclaration. Georgia, as satellite of the Byzantine Empire and as independent kingdom had since the 5th century been fighting with what we now call Ossetians.

As for double standards:
Nato themselves punished serbia for the same internal operations Georgia put forwards now. In Kosovo as in Ossetia there is a 90 to 10 majority for the breakaway faction. But while in Europe the "bad Serbs" were strigmatized for trying to keep up the national integrity of Yugoslavia and the KLA was greeded as Freedom fighters, in Ossetia or Abhazia the same drive for independence is labeled sesessionist.

I hope that Nato will finally understand that pissing into another hegemons garden will provoke counter-spitting. And you know what, i bet we'd all do the same.
and you have to wonder how the US could even say anything after having had invaded Irag and Afghanistan and the possible invasion Iran. it's called hypocrosy, russia is doing what it thinks it has to do in their own best interest.

If we as private individuals can see the hypocrisy in the major religions and their influence in both politics and in their approval of bloodshed in warfare and genocide, then it stands to reason that the very governments that are supported by the major religions also see the holy mess construed by these blood thirsty, power mad clergy and clerics who actually do believe they are doing the bidding of a higher power and are convinced they are above reprehension!

Well, surprisingly it was great fun. The soviet are a good subsititute for nazis. Good ol´ Indy still makes a good figure as brawler, but there many action scenes similar to the older films.

Best Movie-citing:

"You are a highschool teacher???"

"Half a day."
I'm mixed after seeing it, it was good but not great. it's like the Born Identity series in that they follow the pattern of success, all the movies are alike.

I loved the "hangar 51" scenes, especially where the "?" was stored!! and his original woman from the first episode was back, made for some good family drama!!

My recommendation so far is: see Indiana jones, then see Ironman

whith out doing any research on the subject, but the last time Indiana Jones was on the silver screen was in 1989 with the edition of The Last Crusade to the Indiana Jones series.

But on May 22 a new instalment comes out centered around some crystal skulls and their supposed mystic powers. can't wait!! And this time Indy isn't fighting Germans, way cool

But there seems to be some truth to the existance of crystal skulls, there's even a show on tv about the subject

I'm beginning to believe the pipe line theory is the real reason, especially with the history in the Persian Gulf.

Just like historians love to say the American Civil war wasn't over slaves but over other issues, so the middles east isn't over oil but Wmd's and terrorism. I say bull crap, the American civil War was over nothing but slaves and everything in the middle east is over oil. everything else is politics and maneuvering

Afghanistan is the prototype of future Hegemonic housekeeping and out of area operations for NATO. It is also a testing ground for hybrid civilian-military forms of counterinsurgency. Also it is a test run, how to maintain peace with the most limited troop number imaginable.
it's been said that in actuality that a oil pipe line running from iraq thru Ghanistan to the caspain is more the reason for being there.

What;s happening in Iraq is largely "sectarian" violence, meaning Muslims of different sects fighting each other. N Ireland was similar with catholics fighting protestants, both claiming to be christians.

Look at it this way, in both world wars we had Enlish and Germans, both predominantly catholic but killing each other in the name of the same god!!

Many governments are getting fed up with religion, they see most every conflict as one started by one religion against another, and always trying to play the political card at the same time. On top of that they think they are above reprehension due to their political ties and even their fame, they love being in the lime light!

France is one of the nations that see the trend and has done some political maneuvering and implementing of policies to keep religions in check. Most likely bacause of feeling some sort of threat.

Islam is a sect that "we" have to consider as a religion

Thus, those who want to kill our civilisation have only one choice: Separate the "good" and the "bad". THe bad are islamists. And they have a chief called Bin Laden.
The "goods" ....just belong to a sect that free people have to fight. THe sect, not the people who are just ill.

Cheers

Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm always curious to get a French man's opinion on religious topics. I've read some of France's policies concerning religion, and it's not always open minded anymore. Some religions getting taxed heavily.
On the whole, Europeans don't go to church anymore. I think England is down to 10% active churchgoers. American polls show 25% but people lie as to attending church once a week so the numbers are actually lower.
