The command circles have something to do with squad influence, you'll find that command teams usually have the largest circles.

When I played on Gamespy and Gameranger I got similar crashing problems so it's something you have to live with. I haven't had a crash while playing with Hamachi yet though.

You cannot have 2 mods at the same time, uninstall one and install the other.

When you've played GJS to death try these:

Karelia
Winter War
Stalingrad "Trilogy"
Utah is nice
I guess the Ebro mod is worth a try as well.

I think it's a great idea considering how user-friendly Hamachi is.

Cliffs and hills make your soldiers move very slowly, you have to make them move fast or else they're sitting ducks on the cliffside.

Where can I find the multiplayer fix for this mod.

Also, is it stable enough to not crash a lot after applying the fix? I'm looking for something as stable as Karelia was, which hasn't crashed on me once in my GC with a friend.

Does anyone know what the peice on the main menu of the AOVetbob mod is called? It sounds like a baroque era peice but I can't put my finger on it.

Thanks I'll look into it yukon. I've always wanted to do a Close Combat mod, and my main strength is in finding sounds to create moods and realism. Of course the technology that I need to use after I find the sounds is something I have trouble with lol.

I'm about to start making a mod finally and I've been gathering a lot of sounds of WWII weapons from various firing ranges where people own these guns, as well as the internet, and movies that I can record but I don't know how to record these sounds which is a major problem.

I was wondering how I could use some sounds used in other mods and the original Close Combats. For example, how would I go about getting the music from GJS into a format that can be heard in Windows Media Player? I want to do that first to test coverting sounds and the like back and forth without losing them if that's even possible.

I'm thinking about using CC3Hack but the undo button doesn't work and god modding is complicated when you don't know what you're doing lol. Is there something other than CC3Hack I should be using?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: I found SFX pack nigh invaluable in converting sounds back into .wav format but am I only supposed to use it when unpacking?

Overall questions:

1. How can I record new sounds and get them into the game?

2. How am I supposed to use CC3Hack and SFXPack.

3. What is GoldWave and what do I use it for? Also, is it worth buying?

Any updates? Maybe you can set it to recognize multiple .exe's as the same game? Or is it the fact that it is set to recognize 5.0?

Close Combat 5, I was using the Karelia 2 mod if that makes any difference. I think that it recogizes the .exe as a different game with the mod installed or something of the like.

Is there any way to play it with mods? I tried this today and it didn't work i.e it wouldn't start the game. I'm pretty sure that vanilla would work but if you can get the mods to be recognized then it would be invaluable to the CC community...or did I do something wrong in the setup process?

The Battle of Smolensk could be a good idea for a mod. Instead of being just a battle it actually turned out to be a full campaign.
Here's some information on it that I've read in the past few days.

I just started playing the mod and I have to say that it has been very difficult for me so far and the first round isn't even over yet! So far the Russians haven't been doing so well, as they haven't broken any of my maps yet and they've lost three maps already! The 20th Romanian really surprised me but not that much considering the terrain they fight on. I just take out the Russian guns and HT's at the start then I used the minefields to take them out. They wouldn't run over the mines, so I shot them with the guns and my mortars to set them off, them had the two R-3's flank the Russians from the south. Running out of mines however, as I went a little trigger happy on the Russian infantry. I still hold most of the first map, Mironovka, and even without supplies I think I can hold it the rest of the day. For some reason most of my ATG's have been hitting home, even the small 2.8cm gun took out a KV-I in a single shot to my surprise. Here's a few pics of my Romanians beating off the Russians.

i have been following this forum and site for a pretty long time. but i think this is my first post??

anyways, i have played Stalingrad, SDK and now this!

these mods are just plain awesome

now operation circle is pretty darn good. those russian infantry really attacks and rushes the germans. man...they dont stand a chance.

there is one questions though. I was just starting to play the campaign, but for some reason a T26 was able to immobilize and take out my Panzer IV F2 from a frontal/side angle Sad is that suppose to be like that? I thought the T26 was a very early war light tank and had a horrible gun. Also russian used poor ammunition. My panzer IV's 75mm L43 only immobilized the T26 with a side shot!!!!!!! Sad I think the ~100mm penetration of the 75mmL/43 can go through the little T26, shouldn't be a kill if hit?

thanks for making such a great mod!!

mike

Keep in mind that it is not the size of the round that matters. What I mean is that there are other factors, like wind, velocity, angle bearing, distance, and most of all.....LUCK! Many battles have been won by luck, in fact, far more than ones won by skill, or a mixture. You also have to factor in the wear and tear on the tanks, and what they've been through. But that's more of a real world thing we learned in military engineering.
And not every penetration is a kill, remember that. It could have only sent shrapnel into the interior, leaving some alive.
And if you thought the Russians used poor ammuntition, you should look up Russian ammunition, it was a war crime in itself. Russian infantry used explosive rounds in their rifles in the Karelian campaign so they could "mark their targets."

Well that's pretty wrong to say in a few ways but whatever.

Back on topic, Hitler was a great politician, he brought Germany out of the worst depression in history very quickly. The rest of Europe and America were in a depression but they weren't forced to lick dirty oily water of the ground to survive, ours wasn't as bad in comparison, also Germany was in that depression longer, due to the treaty of Versailles. He couldn't use genocides as propaganda in some cases because they were kept secret as his own people would go against him.

His plan to invade America would have been very ambitious. If he had won in Russia and taken Sweden in the planned Sverige offensive, he would have had more than enough supplies to finish off Britain (no offense but logistically he would have) due to access to the expansive oil fields of Asia, and he would have linked up with the Japanese and MAY have helped them against us after taking Britain out of the picture. Taking Russia would also give him even more working men to make tanks, ammunition and desperately needed aircraft to mount such an ambitious invasion. He may even have built up a navy o.O (Multiple Bismarcks anyone?). And also, I almost forgot, by taking Britain out of the picture I mean Africa also, which would again, give him more oil. He could also draft many Russians or actually train them and use them to occupy the countries so nothing gets out of hand. And by then, the offensive would be in 1946 give or take. And America would not use the Atom bomb because if they did, it would have led to another world war with Germany again no doubt. We maybe would use them if Germany started to gain the upper hand on American armed forces but it would drastically change relations and as we've seen in history, Hitler has no problems with mass murder either. Hitler was also working on a dirty bomb himself wasn't he? Tell me if I'm wrong there because that would have greatly tipped the scales in his favor by this time. But he also had V2 rockets being worked on so the entire fate of the war, in my opinion, which Churchill overlooked saying that massive land armies were bad and only predicting Russia lasting for a month, fell on Russia's shoulders and thank god they prevailed, otherwise this entire what-if would have been possible.
