Silverpen,

I don't think I can help you with the installing - I use Config Manager for swapping in and out my CC3 mods. This utility uses a .pln fle of the mod.

If the GWv2.1.zip only has a variety of files and folders I would imagine these are placed in the appropriate folders in your Microsoft CC3 folder (overwriting the original files.)

Someone else may know what exactly you need to do with this zip file.

As to the 'reality' of this mod it does a pretty good job within the inherent limitations of trying to use a WW2 game engine to create a WW1 style game. For example the GW tanks are an abstraction of WW2 tanks. eg British MKI - V tanks dont have turrets but sponson mounted guns which cannot be accurately represented because the game data for tanks is based on hull and turret mounted weapons.

All I can say is give the mod a go and judge for yourself!

BTW I helped develop the CC3 GW mod (mainly graphics and maps) so I can't give a totally unbiased view...

Cheers,
Sapper_D

Good one Buf!

That's one of my Pozieres maps (Poz1) for what it's worth...

BTW more GW goodness is in the works. Just started a new series of maps based on Bullecourt where the AIF fought in 1917. These are for my CC3 AIF: The Western Front mod which is back on track after a many long years buried under the Flander's mud.

Nice little tool there Kanov. Thanks!

BTW it's interesting to actually see all the weird graphics floating around in the CC3 Gadget0 file that were never used....

I think you are both right.
I had a look at the tga's of the CC3 guns and they all have the barrel ending in the centre of the image edge. I was working from the GW guns and they have their barrel-endings all over the place which made me think the muzzleflash could have had a hotpoint in the image....

anyway thanks for the replies.

I'm wondering if it is possible to edit the point where the CC3 artillery muzzleflash happens. Is there 'hotpoint' data somewhere that determines where the end of a gun's muzzle is? I know the nnt file header has the gun's rotation hotpoint but is there one for muzzleflash?

@Kanov

RtB Tool is great!
It actually has the ability to convert BMP's to 16-bit TGAs so all my problems are over...it took no time at all to add the new buttons I wanted to Gadget0 and I have started playing around with the Guns.zfx graphics.

Once again thanks for the heads up on that one  :D

@Tejszd

It's good to be back modding and I'm surprised and pleased to see a CC community still kicking.

Thanks for the replies guys.

@Buf
I've sent you a PM.

@Kanov
Looking at the description for RTBtool it looks like it doesn't work with CC3 files. Is this correct as I'm wanting to mod CC3 Gadget0 and guns.zfx files.

Further research and work has led me to discover that NNTPack doesn't work with the unpacked files from the guns.zfx... So, is the only way to change gun graphics is the method in Dreaded_88's gun guide, ie changing the header in a tga file with a hex editor then repacking the zfx file?

Also, I now know that I need to be using 16 bit tga's but I don't have a graphics program that saves tga's as 16-bit. Does anybody know of a free graphics program I can download that will save tga's as 16-bit?

OK after digging around the net I found G.O.D's old CC links site which has a working link to Konrad's Polish (?) site and this still has a working link for TinTin's NNT and his NNTPack tools which I've DLed - just had to trawl through a few links to find them as it's all in Polish.

Here's the link to the site:

Konrad's Close Combat III tools

Wow  I can't believe this stuff is still lurking around after so long!

Still need to know if there is a particular file type I need to save tga's in...

Well I've dug out my old CC3 GW sub-mod: AIF - The Western Front after many,many years of lying dormant and now it's long overdue to get completed and it doesn't need too much to finish but I need some help remembering what to do for some graphics work I need to complete - it's been at least 8 years since I did any CC graphics mod work!!

1) There are a couple of gun graphics I want to change. I've run the zfx program to unpack the guns.zfx file but I don't have nntpack to covert the nnt files to bmp. Where can I DL nntpack from? I can't find it anywhere anymore....or is there another program that I can use?

2) I did some work on a couple of Gadget0 buttons but when I repacked the tga's the graphics didn't work in-game. I seem to remember that they need to be a certain bit-type? When I save the files using my graphics program they are turning out larger then they should be, ie byte-wise...

any help would be greatly appreciated...
