Have been away from Close Combat for a significant period of time, though
when I was last here I had been attempting to create a similar mod. Naturally
it's great to see anything from the Spanish Civil War in CC5, and I'd like to
thank you wholeheartedly for your efforts.
[Now to find and re-install everything!] |

CMIIW...but I don't think you can have more than 3 soundfiles in CC5: Ggervox.sfx, ERusVox.sfx, Egervox.sfx. Only 2 are loaded in the game (1 is for English speaking version of other nationalities...ie: Germans speaking English).
So if you want Romanian vox...the Germans will speak Romanian also.
I believe you can have more Vox files in CC2 (where the game was designed to accomodate 3 Allied Nationalities: US, Britain, Poland).

I am aware of this, and have to say my only concern was finding the Romanian
voices to switch the Axis forces between German and Romanian. I am not
interested in having either side speak English.
Those uploaded sound files might well be Romanian, although I am unsure. I
do know one or two Romanians on another forum, but I don't think they'd
be up [or ideal] for voice acting.
Edit: I will say those cues do not sound Hungarian to me, although I
could easily find that out if need be. |

Just installed the mod after a considerable time away from the game, re-learning
how to sort out the various performance problems and so on. All is well, but I
was just curious, are there any Romanian vox files available? If I remember rightly
there was an old Romanian mod used for CCIII. Were there any Romanian vox
files from that which could otherwise be converted?
Purely an aesthetic issue, of course. |

Came across this problem just recently. Unable to update drivers as I have
downloaded a specific set in order to be able to play another game. Will try
this disabling of Direct3D functions as soon as possible.
[Would suggest that this is stickied though. Seems a common problem even
outwith the older game versions.] |

This is what I used to unpack the sound file and add a new one, if I remember
correctly. Don't make it too large, or you might have problems, besides the
added loading time. [And I'm partial to Edith Piaf myself. ] |

As I thought, but nevertheless, the files are missing.
[And as for Karelia, are there any issues with the map files that I ought be aware of?] |

Have been having problems installing the Karelia mod downloaded from this site. I did heed the warnings to make sure all maps are copied into the right folder before installing, but still it comes up with an error telling me that specific map files don't exist even after I have checked that they do.
Another thing, and I have a feeling this may just be my rust bucket of a PC causing problems, is that I don't have any System or Original folders in my Plugin folder. I'm sure these were there when I've looked before - although not for the last few months. Even so, I had been installing and removing plenty of mods fine up until I tried Karelia. Does not having these folders cause problems, and why aren't they there?
Also, could anybody tell me where campaign progress, or anything in CC5 for that matter, is saved? I was sure there were separate folders for these within CC5. Progress saves fine enough, [I can save battles, scenarios, all the usual.] but I can't see the files.
Thanks. |

Forum: Close Combat 5: Invasion Normandy Posted: Sat Mar 05, 2005 11:24 am Subject: Realistic multinational battlegroups? [Name and vox files.] |
Just wanted to ask a general question regarding this really. From the early mods of CC5 onwards I was fairly sure I'd seen it said that it was impossible to incorporate multinational battlegroups accurately in forces due to obvious language differences affecting names and voices. But that said, I see in the latest version of Red Storm Rising, that soldiers in the various battlegroups are at least named correctly.
Is this an old development for CC5, or just something that came about with that mod? I see that extra name files were added in the Data directory, but does it require much more alteration, and is it easy to implement? [I thought perhaps an example of where this could be used for extra realism is in the SS Nordland in the upcoming Berlin Mod. Looking forward to that regardless though.]
And, more of a longshot, but does anyone see any chance of being able to do something similar with vox files? [I still dream of seeing a CC5 GCE Mod with International Brigades fully implemented. ]
Thanks. |
