Hi all,

it's a long time since I've had this idea first, but I've been unable to realize it myself: what about drawing a font that represents the bolt-like "S" of the SS to be used in the Close Combat series (particularly CC3, which is my fav)?
It would be possible, then, to rename SS teams with their "correct" symbol instead of the normal "s" font.

The main problem isn't the drawing itself (I've had some success with that) but the steps to be taken afterwards: I'm no font-maker so I really can't figure out how has the new type to be saved. I know that CC3 uses tahoma and tahoma bold as standard in-game fonts, so I've tried to change the "ç" type in the tahoma font file to the bolt-like s. But my editing hasn't been saved as it should... why?? (I've used FontLab)

Secondly: yes, it seems like we need some expert to tell us what's the deal with those "messed-up" ranks... that's why I've PMed Waldganger for info (he's done a somewhat similar mod for CC5 Kursk - take a look here: http://www.closecombatseries.net/CCS/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2767 ); maybe he'll know...

I'm waiting and hoping - it would really be a nice thing to have all SS units displaying their correct ranks.

could you solve a similar problem for CCIII? The SS tank crews' ranks are the same as the army's tank crews, and that's uncorrect (this is surely a "bug", since SS infantry show the correct, black SS ranks - and not the regular infantry's ranks). Could you tell me how to do it? because I'd like to do it myself, if it's not too complicated...

Yes! (well, I guess so: I played CC4 only for a brief time long ago, so I don't remember) Anyway, yes, I'm referring to CC3; sorry for being not clear.

It could be exactly the same problem: the SS ranks shown (for tank crews: infantry are OK) are not SS but regular army. Do you know how this can be solved?

Hi all,

as you've surely noticed, SS troops have different ranks than regular german army; this is true for SS infantry and other SS units. The SS tank crews, however, don't show the correct SS ranks (which are the same of the army tank crews): do you know if there's a way to edit/fix this...?
Of course, I'm referring to the rank graphics.
