This is Great!! I'm very happy to see the CCMT VDV project being used in TLD. It was always my hope to transfer it to TLD for a Chechen war Campaign.  Very Happy

I just love this Serb baiting and twisting of words.... Karadzic did not in anyway say that "massacre's where just and holy".

He said that the Bosnian Serb plight in that conflict was a just and Holy plight..

Give it a couple of days and the transcript will be available on the ICTY website. Read it in proper context and it says something totally different. This report is totally twisting around what was said and in what context it was said in.

I'm a bit curious on this as well. I played with some ideas and nothing really ever was functional or playable when trying to add NV equipment. You could either have the whole game played at night or the whole game played in day and that is about it. I'm still trying to figure out a way to model Thermal sighting (Which can target through smoke) also which just flat out will not co-operate.

Yes you can specify units to clear mines. From what I can tell they do clear mines but it is painfully slow. As it should be really. Really unless you want to play an hours long game it is not worth the trouble. A lot of the new maps I'm making for my Balkans mod are very mine heavy but the tactical solutions in most cases is not to path through them but to maneuver around them and adjust support to assist. Just like in real situations it is not really front troops that clear these they just ID them and adjust tactics for the barrier confronted.

I have been working on two different CCMT mods for quite some time but have really just lost the time to do much with them. I'm sure someone here might be interested in the data or in finishing these up. It is pretty much useless just sitting on my comp wasting space right now.

1st Mod is a Russian Airborne (VDV) Mod with units ranging from Afghanistan, The Chechen conflicts and the Georgian interventions. A whole lot of new stuff in here. I have not made this yet into a swapable mod so these are just the Data and graphics changes on their own with a couple of modified maps. It should be easy enough to make up an install and .ccm zip file for these. Music file is separate and contains Alexander Buinov tribute song to the VDV.

2nd Mod is a Balkans mod featuring units involved in the Yugoslav "civil war". I stopped work on this to adapt it to Close combat: the Longest day so as to do an Operation Storm mod for it. Makes more sense and may work better in that format. This is a swappable .CCM file. I do warn you that I have had some issues with it and some of the vehicles in particular have been problematic and need more experienced attention.

Hope these are usable in someway to someone..
Good day and Happy hunting..

VDV Russian airborne Mod for CCMT

The above was something I was working on for sometime but then just did not have time to complete. Feel free to use it or any of it's components in any way which you would like. These are bundled as the files only. I have not had the time to bundle it into a swapable mod.

If you want them I have made icons for the G-3, a Scoped G-3, MP-5 and the Croatian aps-95 which is very much like the G-36A.. You could take the G-3 and MP-5 to make the Hk-33 etc...

I've totally redone the game a couple Times over.

One mod is a Russian Airborne mod which essentially changes it to Close combat VDV and another which is based on the parties involved in the Yugoslav breakup from 1991 to 1995..

Pretty much turned it on end for both of these. One thing to love about the CC series you get tired of something or do not like something, you can just make it into something new with a bit of time and tinkering.

Interesting topic you bring up here.. When I first got this game I was personally annoyed with what seemed to be incredibly unrealistic kill power of some of the weapons at ranges they should not even reach. On looking at the actual data I only had a three phrase sentence to describe it... "What the F**K... Not only that I was quite annoyed with the lack of an accurate Opfor TO&E..

Great thing is this is one very easily modded game with very little effort to create a more accurate representation of a modern battlefield. I'm currently working on a Russian mod to this game covering Soviet and later Russian involvement in Afghanistan to Chechnya. In doing so I changed the data of the Weapons to reflect correctly what capabilities they should have. This simple moding has really brought the Close combat back into Close combat Modern Tactics...Differences are night and day between the stock version and the moded version.

This actually IMHO has increased the fun and usefulness of this game as you really do have to use current Infantry and armor tactics. Real close action fights are now brutal but long range sniping and skirmishes just suppress and disorient. Not obliterate you... You can keep your armor in the right place to still support but not get whacked by an RPG because you can actually get infantry close enough to support the armor and suppress the Hand AT weapons before having the whole team obliterated by some dude with an AK at 500 meters.. Something which is bizarre as the damn thing can barely reach 100 meters in reality.

I'm not sure how or why many parts of the weapons data was chosen in the way it was but I can assure you that if you change it to be more realistic this game really changes and becomes very challenging...

In CC3 the battlefield is basicly a much scaled down version of reality.
In this case a mere team or two would be historicly accurate.

PTRD and PTRS Atr, basicly were littering the battlefields in the east.
These weapons were commonly used not only for Anti tank uses but also
Anti material roles.

Here is an interesting link regarding how the rifles were employed and used.
This booklet fully shows how to employ the gun to it's best use, Worked well on the Eastern front and also works very well in the game.

I find it quite ammusing and fun to use the Simsonov ATRs Very Happy
It is yes, a challage but then thats half the fun. I always keep at least
one on the roster.

Support the ATR rifle team with another team in ambush. Draw alot of fire on the vechicle to get them to button up, then sneak around and get a good solid top or rear shot. Urban areas work best especially if you can lead a tank down a narrow path.

I definitly would not call them a useless team, you just have to employ them in such a way that they are effective. Key to using them is the same
for any team, use them only when they are at advantage and right for the job. Never leave them to fend for themselves they will die fast.
