infantry teams will almost always attempt to assault a close-topped tank by crawling around, trying to place grenades (with internal morale check), yet somehow avoid using relevant AT weapons like HHL or Gammon (whether available or not). End result: infantry crawl around, breaking, rallying, detonating occasional grenade, and generally running around in circles, sometimes in range of AFV MG or main gun, eventually committing suicide or getting hopelessly caught up in ridiculous behavior. This was noted and changed in betatesting for PitF.

That is bad. Really bad. Heavy infantry assaults on tanks is one of the most thrilling and enjoyable parts of the game.

I haven´t bought LSA yet, since I am waiting for your mod. But this sounds like a major bug to me. So I really, really, really hope this will be fixed in a patch.

Can´t you use the original pics from CCV GJS? I would like this game to feel WWII. So I am no fan of the new NATO-meets-Disney picutres.

I could help gather picutres if more and better ones are needed.

I prefere the game to look more like in the seconed picutre :)

Otherwise great work with the mod. I am really looking forward to it. Can´t wait!

Right now there are 9 static bgs (occupying every beach map and then some). There may be more.  The Allied challenge will be to punch through the static BGs as fast as possible and rush inland as fast as possible before the first potent German BGs arrive and counterattack/resist. It will now be just barely possible to reach Caen by the morning of June 7. (may be three turns per day).  A skilled German player will not be able to stop the Allies on the beaches as was possible in GJS 4.4.  Now it will be a matter of how far will the Allies get between June 6-7 before potent German BGs arrest progress?

Lots of dynamic, strategic features possible with LSA engine that were not possible before.

So GJS is going to be a mod for LSA and not TLD?

I don´t own LSA and had no intention of buying it, since I think TLD was a disappointment. I had the feeling I bought a game that I already own, but without the mods that makes it great.

But if GJS will be a mod for LSA, I will definitely buy it. I don´t care for the vanilla games. All I want is GJS Smile. So know that your work is really appreciated Cathartes. And I don´t mind if you switch engine.

Just imagine there are open windows in the building or something Smile.

I am probably one of those who do not care that much about these things. I do agree it is annoying when an enemy gun destroys your tank through a solid building. But it is not a game breaker. Strange things happen, both in real war and in CCV.

What I am saying is most people were more than happy with GJS4.4. You making it even better is of course great. But don´t overdo it Smile

I mostly play CC with a friend who normally doesn´t play computer games at all. Most people still playing CC are WWII nerds and not gamers, so things like small poor quality photographs are important to us Smile. We don´t need good graphics to enjoy the game, but we need those photographs, since they add all the flavor and historical feeling.

I loved the combat pics of GJS 4.4. They made the whole game come alive. The poor quality of the photographs, gave the game a more historical flavor.

The icons somehow take away all of that. It feels more like a 2011 war game with modern icons. They fit for a game portraying Desert Storm or any other modern conflict, but if you are making GJS 4.4 it almost has to be low quality photographs instead of modern, cartoonish icons.

But my guess is it will be easy to make a mod for the mod, with the authentic photographs. So probably not a big deal :)

Edit: tigercub´s avatar makes me want to install and play CCV GJS again. I want the game to look more like tigercub´s avatar and less like schrecken´s avatar Smile

TLD was a big disappointment, since it could not compare to CCV GJS 4.4. But a (more) stable version of GJS 4.4 for TLD will be heaven on earth. Simply the best think that has happened since bread and butter.

Thank you for the update. Great news!

Don´t overdo it. There are probably many errors in GJS 4.4 for CCV. If you start to correct minor mistakes, your project will probably turn into a never ending story.

Can´t wait for the release. Your work is highly appreciated.

This is wonderful news! I bought CCTLD some time ago but never played it more than once. So for almost ten years I and my friends have been playing CCV GJS. The 00.00-time bug in CCV was more than depressing.

Will this GJS mod use the same battle group pictures as the old mod? I loved the old WWII photographs of tanks and infantrymen. For some reason they made the whole game come alive.

If you are looking for an improved experience in the existing game then yes buy it by all means.

Well. I did read some posts before i bought the game. I fail to see any improvements at all. Some new maps and night fights, that´s it. Considering there are no mods for this version, I would say it is inferior to the original game.

Matrix has sold us a game that we already own and now they want the CC community to do all the work for them in converting mods. 40 Euros wasted is not the end of the world, but what Matrix are doing is simply not ok in my opinion.

hundreds of people play CC5 multiplayer, so obviously you've got the problem.

Really? Everyone at GameSpy had the same problems as I did when I played some years ago. Maybe there is a new patch?

Single battles always worked fine even in multiplayer. But when playing campaigns the game crashed after 2-3 battles. Always at the exact moment when the timer hit 00.00. Some peopled tried to reload the game after every second battle. But I don´t think it made any good.

I did play the game for many years. I had it installed on Windows 2000, Windows NT and Windows XP. Didn´t work on any of my computers.

Crap. A drug addict probably spends his money more wisely than I just did.

Close Combat The longest day is Close Combat 5 without mods. So I actually paid for an inferior version of a game that I already have.

I assume this version is stable in multiplayer. But the game is boring without mods. So now I have a fun version of the game that does not work in multiplayer and a boring version of the game that does work in multiplayer. This is pure evil.

I bought the game. Now I only have to wait 30 minutes for the download and probably 30 years for the GJS mod to be released Smile

CCV crashed all the time during multiplayer. The GJS mod itself was not the problem.

I assume they have fixed most of the stability problems in CCTLD. I would gladly pay 1000 Euro for a stable version of GSJ. But I don´t think a stable version of CCV vanilla is worth buying at all. As I remember it you can´t even hide a gun in a bush. You have to put the gun behind the bush and it won’t be able to see or fire through it. Even worse - the gun crew won’t take cover when fired at with mortars. And every second mortar round will hit the ammunition depot and make the whole thing blow up. What are the odds of that? In CCV about 99 % it seems.
Even a company of Volkssturm was more useful when dealing with enemy tanks than a big gun was...

I and a friend played CCV GJS many years ago. The game crashed every second battle and it was almost unbearable. Still we loved the game.

I never really liked CCV vanilla. GJS introduced many new units and the concept of hiding AT-guns in bushes. It took more than one mortar round to knock them out.

I can´t find any mods for CC TLD, so I assume there are none. Is CC TLD basically the same as CCV vanilla without mods? If I did not like CCV vanilla, but loved CCV GJS, will I hate or love this game?

Will there be any mods for this game? Is this game stable in multiplayer?
