I believe he meant "Recruit/Veteran/Hero" when choosing difficulty settings, which would be based on the later Close Combat difficulty settings.

In CC1, if I remember correctly, you can change to custom settings, which are more indepth.

You can choose from: Very Strong, Strong, Average, Weak, and Very Weak force strengths.

Matching Very Strong American forces vs. Very Weak German forces, and Vice Versa, can make for some very interesting games.

Until I realized what Custom Difficulty settings can do, I had never seen a Sherman 105 or too many M4A3s at once.

Doing this at St. Lo can result in some pretty interesting battles.

I bought the Close Combat Trilogy in 8th grade. I almost exclusively played A Bridge Too Far until High School, occasionally playing The Eastern Front when I felt the urge.

I didn't get into Close Combat I until I was well into my sophomore year. After several campaigns against my friend across town, I decided to find out if there were any mods available (I loved the Pacific Front and WW1 for CC2).

If I remember correctly, there was an Italian Campaign and a revamped Normandy Campaign that I got to work. Unfortunately my friend could never mod his CC1 and I played solo.

By Senior year I had almost created a mod of my own, although I could never get my maps to load correctly. The following year I went to college and joined a local Fraternity, which no doubt has led to severe memory issues regarding Close Combat and all the other fun games I used to play when I was younger.

So finally, at the end of the long winded and nostalgic post, I have one question:

How can I get the mods working for my computer? Crying or Very sad

Here is some info:

I can't lie, I scratched my original copy and downloaded it off of the internet. Embarassed
I run windows XP on my aging laptop (which still runs CCI-V perfectly).
I am familiar with the command lines and have several different Close Combat installations.

Can anyone help me with an installation of one of the many mods available from this AWESOME website?

I used to post a lot in the GICOMBAT forum, although I can't remember what I used for an Alias. I know you guys are very good at giving instructions...

Thank you all for years and years of fun, I'll check back periodically to see if anyone was able to answer my question. (And no doubt go back and read the installation instructions within the archives of this fine site.)

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
