Hi everyone,

I write this post to inform the community that I have started to work on TLD Kursk mod: it has been in my mind for many time, now I have started seriously the work. I will use this thread to ask help, if necessary.

Porting a mod requires many time. Porting an unfinished and never tested mod it requires more than many time.
The user Waldganger has started this project for CC5 many years ago: he has done a beautiful graphic work and he has created the mod Data, but his excellent work needs anyway a rework (it's normal: the mod it was a work in progress). For example, about forcepools, all Wehrmarcht forcepools are filled with SS units (same thing for the guards units in regular Russian battlegroups) : they must be totally remade. I will also add some BGs (for sure) and some teams (probably).

The mod it's focused on a specific portion of the south sector of the Kursk salient: the 4th Panzer Army faces the 6th Guards Army, some elements of 69 Army, the reserves of the Voronezh front (the real reserves of this front and the 1st Tank Army deployed deep) and later some of the best units of the Steppe front. I have already done a research work to rework forcepools in the best way possible.

About sounds: The main and most important sound.sfx file has been created by Waldganger: I will see if there will be some work to do on it, but it’s already made. All other sounds files are a secondary and easy thing.

About maps: there are at least 30 (CC3) kursk style custom maps that can be used in a very good way for this mod (I have already done this selection), and a “pool” of 20-25 possible maps to choose the remaining 14 maps. For sure, maps need a full BTD files work (not only a work to port them to TLD; this work is necessary in any case) and probably some work on .txt files and/or elements Data file.

I have already finished the porting work for CCImages.px file. Now I’m working on maps. I hope I will not find bugs and/or missing files in azp files (could be a real problem) and to work on this project with continuity.
That’s all for now.

Drizzt

That is really nice. The battle of Kursk certainly deserves a mod. Looking forward to play it. Good Luck.

I want to be optimistic. I really want to rather see the new game manual or what they will bring new about moddability, which is important to me.

I wish we had that level of dedication from the developers today, so with the current computing power and technology, they might make a 3D game directly with these models in the hand.

Do not manually set targets for AT guns and you should be a lot better off.

Set them to Defend or better: Ambush - You will see they kill tanks very effectively that way and they are able to survive a lot better too. (Well, maybe not Front of Croc, but all other angles)

True. A not well concealed AT Gun is useless. You can see in many instances, an AT gun gets killed as soons as the game starts  (same for the tank, if it starts in LOS of AT gun) if it is so easy to spot and sits wide open.

I agree that we do not actually need 3D, since the game is in its essence a real time strategy game rather than a FPS. But of course, to attract the newcomers, everyone trys to come with something on 3D, Because, funding is certainly a big issue. But some 3D to a degree would be added.

I wish one took this game and embed the CC features, pyschology model, ammo, team tactics, etc. into it.

This M1 is really interesting. It is para carbine. But, the magazine seems longer than usual ones, as if it is a M2 full auto carbine.

That is interesting. And in regard to small team tactics and tips or just historical details given in readme?

Today, I was able to install COI with problems by no means. There was no need to set windowed mod, compatibility etc. But, My Laptop was an upgrade from Win8.

After the game loads see if you can get the Options to open, then under the general Tab choose windowed.

Platoon is right, BamBam. Besides, hide toolbar can be adjusted from Taskbar settings of windows. I will try to make screens about my experience in Win10 with different versions of CC and compatibility settings, hopefully at the weekend.

Is there somewhere a small guide on CC WAR on a WIN 10 Workstation?

Startscreen of WAR works fine, when I want to play screen is not fully filled and only green and purple colors  Question
Since we're on this topic how does it work for CC5

Greatings from someone who returned after years. Wink

It is nice to see a veteran user here Very Happy

You could try windowed mode and choose hide toolbar from settings and if I recall correctly some resolution settings tweaking.

it's not even possible with compatibility mode?

It won't install under W10. I got a new pc with W10 pre-installed, rather than upgraded to W10 from W7.

yes buddy I had installed as win7.

Tanks/Vehicles can always be captured. I think if enemy abandons vehicle and you seize the land it sits on, it happens. But as far as I know, no such feature in game. Of course that would be awesome. However, in some battlegroups you see predefined captured vehicles. That is mostly in east front/stalingrad mods.

Very interesting Personality. I remember watching a film of him about Italian Campaign as a child. I was very surprised later as I found out he was indeed a war hero in real life.
