I remember this as a possible alternative to CC at the time. Very nice to see it still around. I am downloading it. Wow. Never give up your dreams, Sean.

I agree that the first shot from a tank is mostly a dud. I think they are trying to simulate the aiming process finding the range and stuff, similar to what you see with mortars. But, really, isn't the aiming apparatus different with guns? Shouldn't the be able to accurately aim first time around? Am i wrong in this assessment? (So far my tank experience is very archaic)

I know this is new for me, so I want people to give advice for Steam multiplayer

What I have noticed is that I was registered but I was signed in as offline so people could not see me. Press Shift +Tab to get to the Steam menu. Under friends tab change your status to online.

Also you can add friends by searching their name.

If you have anything else that would be good to know please post.

NF you remind me of an old man that has a comment for everything, but understands nothing. You are good man, just understand that some things do not involve you or revolve around you.
Sulla, please do not respond to NF, ever. He does not deserve it. I respect you and your dream.

Interesting to learn the history behind CC development and how much passion goes into the creative process and how deep are the disappointments.
For some reason CC is game that is a perfect fit for me, the right mix of history and real time gaming. I wish Sulla all the best, it would be heartbreaking to see something I worked so hard on stolen from me. I can feel your pain. I hope that somehow your dreams come true. And it sounds like that the game you are envisioning would be all we are hoping for in CC community.

Played couple online games. Other guys hosted so I ended up being Alies both times.

Pro:
Familiar outline and look of the game
Awesome explosions
Nice improvement on with strat map movement

I did get all beat up by the German side. Allied tanks lost a lot, infantry gets overrun very easy. But overall I love it. Nothing like CC.

Compared to graphics of explosions the maps seem like they need to be sharper or more detailed.

I would be very surprised if Russia stays out of Ukraine. The question is the whole thing or just some parts. But judging by the experience from Georgia it will be parts.

I hope and pray it doesn't happen, but the world and it's ways are always based on power and lack of trust.

At this point it is just creative outlet. I missed making maps, actually I started missing CC which always leads me to maps creation. I was talking to Pete about Ortona and he suggested to maybe make another mod for Italy near Ortona, but the lead that he gave me led me to Anzio area by mistake. I just love the idea of Anzio. After I read about it, it looked like it was a coin toss concerning who would come on top.
The battlefield is flat and very open. Perfect for armor, but only on main roads, mud all around. Tigers, Panthers, and Ferdinands on German side.  Smile
It would be a good even Grand campaign.
So, if there is an interest, and time in my schedule, then maybe. I was really thinking about to mod it for the upcoming CC if possible. If not I am open to suggestions.

Just artistic outlet at this point, not jet final. I am very happy with it. It amazes me that this small area had over 200,000 fighters crammed on both sides.

That's the one I was looking for. I got tons of info for Ortona on that site. There was this creepy guy who knew every outfit strength and equipment for every day. He kept answering my questions, but then I asked him to officially help he got so offended. Still trying to figure it out why.

I found a lot of data for Ferdinands and Panthers being deployed in the area. But like everything in Italy it all came down to infantry and artillery support.

Numerous mentioning of Goliath and it's bigger brother. But they were disappointing.

The thing with mods is: you can make them historical and have only equipment that was actually used, or historical but make all the equipment that was assigned available even though it was not used or was not successful and let the player decide.

I have found some sources for units in the area but not very detailed. How does one go about finding specific details. If you can list websites or books that go into little more details I would really appreciate.

Oddly enough tank vs tank combat is still in favor of the Sherman even though they are coded equally. (must check weapons data again).

That was the first thing I noticed that Shermans are invincible. I don't think it's a issue with morale, but weapons data like you are suspecting.

Panzershreks are useful, and currently not very accurate, even though they were accurate enough to make a difference in couple of games Pete and I played. My estimate: one out three made a hit, one out of five made a kill.

Is it possible to slow tanks down on the mud even more? venturing off roads should be very difficult for any vehicle.

It is coming along. The beauty of Ortona is limited batlefield and some dedicated units on both sides. I think we are very close to achieving that thanks to the work that Pete and Buck have put in. The mod should feel and play very differently because of the limited scope. By the time you are done with a GC, on both sides, you should feel victorious but exhausted by the ferocity of quick bloody battles on small battlefields/maps with very difficult terrain.

Just an idea Smile  A kickstarter for CC, why not?

To recreate this thing would take some serious money and an experienced team of programmers. When you are talking about moders you are talking about design elements and it is true there are very talented people around. The trick with this is funding-marketing-profit formula, unless there is someone with a lot of cash they were willing to risk and invest in a game simulation. Only with cash you would be able to make some serious and visually impressive changes, that we rightly imagine should happen. Matrix is probably doing best they can with what they got. I can imagine they are bunch of freelancers working probably for nothing in order to make a new game.

It seems that the curse of this game is that it could be much better. But if we are to be honest it is good as it is. So, sure if someone got the money to buy it they better have money to develop it properly, because what we have is a shoestring operation as it is. And there is no need to recreate what we already have.

You say there will be no distinction between SS and Wehrmacht, does that mean you are completely using the SS ranks or the Wehrmacht ones?
Anyway Scottish voices for the allied side sound great, looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

It seems that sounds will be same, no info of the ranks and units. Not that many updates for a game that should be out in near future.

Where are the teasers? Give us some bones, people!

I like the scope of it. Limited linear front, one main road with terrain that limits every progress to it. Probably good setup for CC3 style campaign without real strategic map or limited strat with 15-20 something maps.
