Battle of Berlin is one of the mods "you must have".
Sapa really did a great work !!
Try it playing as the Germans, in the veteran mod and you will see how powerful the Russian air strikes and artillery support are.

Rob

Only in anti-infantry rol the tiger was better than the panther due to his 88mm HE shells. The Panther 75mm highspeed gun was more effective in anti-tank porpouse and the panther armor as heavy as tiger. Speed and small turret are relevant in tank duels too.

And the Panther was easier to produce than the Tiger. Germany could produce two Panthers with the resources wasted in one single Tiger. That made the Panther tank more available on the battlefield. I choose the Panther too.

There is a very interesting book to help in this discussion - Arms of destruction (from Robert A. Slayton).
In his opinion, the best tank is the one that that present the best balance between the trinity of lethality, survivability and availability.
Following this idea, he points that the best tank of the war was the T-34/85 because the Tiger thought with better firepower and thickest armor, was very difficult to produce and keep operational.
The Panther was the German answer to the T-34. It combined a superb design with sloped armor and a gun that "had not the charisma of the 88mm, but in truth, it was a better tank killer by far."
In his opinion, the Panther was better balanced than the Tiger and that made it a winner.
On the other side, the T-34/85 even loosing on the categories firepower and armor, had superior speed, and above all was easy to produce and to keep operational. And that means that it was available on the battlefield. The production numbers of that tank reached 11.778 units in 1944!

Best regards,
Rob

I saw a picture in the photo gallery of a german unit on the strategic map with the followig text: "The German 122.Infanterie Division together with the 303.Surmgeschutz-brigade arrives to the Karelian Ishmus on June 23 1944".
Are there german battlegroups in the Karelia 2 mod ?
Is the mod ready or under construction ?

Thanks,

Could someone explain the differences between the sub mods for the Ardennes Offensive mod?

Full Command submod
True Black submod
Volksgrenadier submod

(And any others I might have missed)

Thanks!

I had already played the volksgrenadier submod, and the diference is that you don't have the vast number of tanks you have in the mod. Besides the number of teams in the force pools are restricted too. You have to take care of your men, or your squads are going to be incomplete.
I liked it, and when I play the Ardenes mod, I use these submod. Smile

I do agree with you Berlin is one of the best mods for CC5.
Have you ever tried it in the vet. mod ?
The artillery and air support are simply lethal. Very good challenge, and I think that's why this mod was done only to be played against the A.I. Smile

Rob

Hi All,

I need some help about the battle of the bulge for an informal discussion. Rolling Eyes

Does anyone know where i can find information about Von Obstifeelder's first Army, the neighbor units of the seventh Army in the south, that didn't took part on the german advance ?

What forces did he have, and what were their tasks, at the time of the offensive.

Cheers,
