All I can think of is soldiers running around the map making truck noises and beeping when they back up. Like kids pretending to be a truck.

No I don't have the patch. Didn't realise there was one. Got the game a while ago and forgot about it so maybe it was changed in the patch somehow.

PostForum: Close Combat The Longest Day   Posted: Sun Feb 14, 2010 7:15 am   Subject: Re: Battlegroup withdrawl
I found this thread and was interested so I set up a test with a strip of 5 maps with only one BG from each side on the map with these meeting in the central map. I ajusted the forcepools so I only had one unit and charged it forward. When killed my unit retreated and was on the map behind in the nest turn. I then set up the opposition to only have one unit then attacked and they too retreated and the BG was on the map behind the next turn.

So it appears that the retreat function works fine at least when a BG is destroyed on a map. I'd test morale failure with units left too but I don't have the time.

I agree with all your points especially the weapons data.

I believe I remember someone saying that moral and experience are linked to the same value so they cant be set independently. Seems an odd thing to me.

Also I'm chuckling at the thought of an expandable soldier. Just add water.

West End is some bad stuff. The one and old time I ever got drunk on alco pop crap. It was that or west end. The only drinks there were. Anything that sells 30 cans for $30 can't be that high quality.

If you are in the same room playing then you can use the same disk because the game only checks for the disk when you start the program. After you get to the menu you can take the disk out and the game runs fine.

Thanks for all the hard work.

I finished my last exam today and this was waiting as my reward. Perfect timing.

Maybe it was a fluke but the AI does seem a little better. I couldv'e sworn it tried a combined arms attack.

With guys in cover not moving. I dont know whether its the same problem but a while ago when i changed mods something must have screwed up. All terain became impassable to infantry. Hadges, walls, buildings all couldnt be crossed. All I got was the "cant reach target" everytime I tried to move anything.

I swapped the mod out then back in and I've never had the problem again. Worth a try I guess.

Grunt, the most important thing in marriage is compromise so you just have to take a hit for the team. You know what is most important in life so thats why you are willing to sacrifice the weekend with her to play the mod.

I mean your wife will always be there and this mod wont always be new.

She'll see the light

Mythoclastic: The panther is listed in the game as "MARK VG/VD/VA" depending on model.

They appear in these BGs
-I./3 2.Panzer div
-I./6 Panze-Lehr div
-I./12 12 SS-Panzer div

As someone said look for the picture of a panther on the BG icon

Get over to GS and have some real fun.

Thats very true. I played for years against the AI and actually thought I was pretty good at the game. Many battle without a single dead can give you that illusion.

Now I play head to head a fair bit (university gives me a huge amount of spare time) and I get completly destroyed by the veterans around here. But its certainly more fun than the AI and I like to think I'm learning a few tricks.

A whole new world of pain indeed.

Just lost an OP in a day and a half. Nightmares of flamers...theyre... everywhere....ahhhhh

But great fun none the less.

The satisfaction of winning comes from knowing you outplayed and outfought your opposition not from exploiting the system.

There are plenty of good, honest players out there so stick to them.

I use mortars purely as suppressive weapons and any actual kills is a bonus. I just deny the enemy freedom of movement. Anywhere I see a walking or running team I drop 1 or 2 bombs amongst them and they all go prone. Then I leave them alone as they are not worth the ammo.

When your defensive positions are being attacked then the extra time it takes for the enemy to cross open ground or move reserves is all time your MG can use to full advantage.

In regular cc5 they were ATG killing machines but I'm glad thats been reduced. I barely had a gun survive a single battle unless it was in a house.

PostForum: The Mess   Posted: Fri May 05, 2006 2:08 pm   Subject: Realism or Gameplay?
When reading the question I immediatly thought realism is the most important as in my opinion that is what makes CC something more.

The more I thought about it the more I thought that it was the underlying playability that allowed the quest for realism to continue. Unless you tried to make a mod based on Barbarossa that was totally acurate you cannot really destroy gameplay totally. i enjoy being the very stong underdog. The sense of achievement if you are able to stop a much supirior force and hold out for days with a few reserves and a light AT gun is fantastic.

But I'm blabbering like a cretain but thats my 2 cents.
Realism is great but you have to have the strong gameplay underlying or noone would play.

And GJS is my favorite mod. It just looks and plays so well.

Always nice to see a player with less experience than me on GS.

Mabye I can play and not get a savage beating. Learning experiences as they are.
