When viewing screenshots of WaR it appears that some of the weapon icons, particulary the P38 and the M1911 .45, bears a great deal of similarity to the ones I made and published earlier this year and to confirm or disprove that my work have been used for comercial purposes I ask if any of you who have purchased the game would be so kind and send me a copy of the GameGadg.gdg and ScreenGadg.gdg ?
I don't expect that it is my work that has been used in WaR without my permission but I just want to be absolutely sure that it is not.

I guess you'd have to make a plugin of the gadget files and upload it as a BoB submod.
I agree with Ifni...the Kar98 in the original game (and most early mods) looks nothing like the real rifle.
I'm guessing these new weapons are based on Rogue5's weapons pack?

BTW, why not include also the new soldier status head graphics based on Cpl_Punishment's work?

They are my weapon icons, glad to see someone making the timeconsuming task of replacing the weapon icons Smile

I didn't either - but then again I have a legal copy of CC4 already and what would I want with a beta of a CC4 remake for?

After reading on this board today that the betas where placed on file sharing servers my first impression was how incompetent the companys security was in allowing either hackers or testers to gain access to all of those files and then place them on the internet.
How can we as a community have faith in a company whose security procedures are so lax that it gets it beta material stolen and then believe that its final products somehow will not be as flawed as the companys security?

PostForum: The Mess   Posted: Mon Feb 11, 2008 5:27 pm   Subject: Can barbarism succeed?
In the case of guerilla tactics/terrorism/barbarism "win" I believe it is always due to the stronger/civillzed antagonist who allows the other part to succeed by not using enough force on its enemy - Example: Afghanistan is a stalemate due to NATO not using terror tactics and overwhelming firepower on the Taliban/Al -Qaead/Afghani civilians and thus the enemy is not frightend to the point where they loose the will to fight and therefore they are not loosing the war but on the other hand NATO with its internal struggles between USA/UK/Canada/Holland/Denmark on one side and Germany/France on the other is a gift to the taliban/Al-Qaeda cause.
To ensure viictory over such a force of barbarism it is my opinion that NATO should resort to terror bombings of the afghan poppy fields, the afghani and pakistani water and food supplies in order to starve the enemy into submission - if that initiailly fails use NBC weapons to exterminate the enemy untill victory is secured.
The rise of a barbaric enemy such as the Taliban and Al-Qaeda is only possible thorugh the coorporation of the civilian population and therefore the so called civililans are the enemy also and should be part of the target lists.

That is just my opinion on this matter, whether you agree or disagree is not my concern..

The closecombat.org forum has been hacked and contains gay porn - Not a joke unfortunately but the sad truth.
I received a mail from sulla [at] closecombat [dot] org earluer today with links to meatspin.com
I did not click the links but was stupid enough to go to closecombat.org's forum in order to post a complaint about sulla's account being hacked but the board led only to the meatspin.com site... Evil or Very Mad
Do not follow any links to meatspin.com sent by mail or otherwise it is a gayporn site unless you are into gay porn that is...

It is for displaying on the web that I want to convert some of the files to the .JPG format but I am not sure that I am goiing to do it due to the fact that for those who wants to use my images needs a graphics editor that can handle .tga files so they are already able to see the images. But then again I might just do it after all just for the hell of it - will take time though Razz

PostForum: Close Combat 5: Invasion Normandy   Posted: Tue Jan 08, 2008 10:26 pm   Subject: World War 2 Weapon Icon Library for CCV is ready
I have created an icon library of World War Two weapons for the CCV ScrnGadg.gdg and GameGadg.gdg files which is free to use for non-commercial purpose only.
I will see if can upload the library to this site and/or to closecombat.org and I will be happy just to send them by e-mail if anyone wants that instead.
Appearences of the icons may differ depending on screen brightness, gamma etc. as I discovered earlier last year when I bought a new Widescreen TFT monitor where they all appeared dimmer and stretched when playing CCV Shocked so just for the sake of completeness I have included every versions of individual weapon icons I have made, even the bad ones Wink

Enjoy Smile

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
