Sounds to me like an video error. Have you made an empty folder in CC5 man called videos?
When you start the game, hold down Ctrl (or is it shift?) and you will get the options menu, disable videos and try again.
Or else try the CCstarter tool in downloads, its a wery good help to start CC in newer computers.

The price, 3 games for 198 SEK that’s 25 USD. Not bad... If it doesnt suck that is...
Thinking, the Medival war I have some hopes... Maybe there is some mods, Narva 1700, Duna 1701, Kliszów 1702, Thorn 1703, and maybe most interesting Poltava 1707…
Some ware deep in me I have a small hope to fined a better game then CC5…

I am a big total war fan as well, its the only game i have found that has some similarities to the CC series. The only problem with it is that it doesn't have the scream factor to close combat. Anyone that disagrees needs to recall those cherished moments when your watching your anti tank gun reloading and the panzer turret turning, begging them to go faster. Or that time when your bazooka team is prime position in a building with a tiger outside and they keep missing. FIRE DAM YOU FIRE!
Yes there are similar moments in Total war and I too look forward to Empire, but I will never stop playing close combat until they build a graphcally superior game with the same logic and style as CC. Every title out there that says its a strategy game is really a mindless command and conquer adaptation....build structure...fight unit....build unit.. build another structure...and so on.
It really does make me sick seeing reviews of new games like Company of Heroes, best strategy game ever made etc.....pretty but just the same mindless rubbish. What CC has over them all seems to be randomness, why does the guy at the back in cover get hit when his buddies are in the open, why can a single dude in a unit nail have a company when everyone else around him is dead. CC trully captures something that the other games miss completely and go on missing. Long live Close Combat & Merry Christmas! |

Why is it that no matter what games come out i ALWAYS end up coming back to any of the CC games?
Maybe its the great work everyone does with mods, but i think it is everything to do with the game being the only real strategy game in the market. The Total War series come close but placement and luck have nothing on CC.
I mean how many of you sit there like i do shouting, run, run, run or fire that dam thing like a mad man and gasping for breath when that pesky tiger final explodes after killy half your BG?
Command & Conquer **SPITS** is like a five year old playing with soldiers compared to CC, why has the concept behind the game play not caught on? I fail to see why those graphic junkies can't use their brains for five minutes.
Sorry for the rant but, i just felt that i needed to express my feelings...Oh and just to say a big well done to my boys for wasting that Tiger!

Thanks for the advice, but it is having none of it. What ever mod i install, the unit names are the same as the original, unit images change but not the names. It is annoying having to guess the unit identity on the deployment map by the picture and having to manauall correct everything.
I am thinking that this is a Vista related issue as it never happened when i had XP. Has anyone else had problems with mods & Vista?
Come on experts....help me with this newfangled technology! |

Hi,
When ever i install a mod to CC5 the unit names and sounds are always the same as the original. I have reinstalled everything and tried loading GJS and still the names are the same?
I have Vista now, but i was sure on my old pc the names were corrected and the sounds were different.
Am i missing something?
cheers

yeah, the problem is with Operation Circle, Vetmod works ok and i am downloading GJS as we speak. If that work, then i guess that mod is not for me, so to speak.

Emergency troops thrown together into an unit.
Sharky, I too look at the AI's forces sometimes to HELP them. Like you said
sometimes their forces don't make sense, because they are facing lots of armor or no armor. Although it is very tempting to take their Katyushas away , don't do it. The result is one of the most difficult game decisions as you have to decide to fire your AT Gun or Panzer, then suffer the rain of
the Kats- or not fire and loose the opportunity to knock out a Russian tank or
Gun. Firing a gun and missing, then seeing that part of the map go up in smoke is very frustrating to say the least. Like you also said, this mod is something special : .
|
Thanks for the advice, I will leave the Kat’s alone!
You are spot on with that dilemma, you can guarantee that it will take two or three taps with a Pak to knock out a KV-Is at range and you can’t hold fire because the rusky horde charge at you like mad men and end up spotting the gun placement anyway. I am beginning to realise that it is going to be AT grenades and mines all the way soon, followed by sneaky reserves stealing back victory locations before the time limit runs out.

As previously mentioned by other players, the game play is better than anything i have seen so far in a mod.
I am losing, I never lose like this when defensivley playing the german side.
When i posted a thanks earlier this week I put it down to better balance, less ammo or more agressive AI, but it is more than that. Last night i was actually red faced with rage and screaming orders at the screen like a crazy person because units were not firing or firing too early, just rubbish shots or for dieing without permission.
Oh my god this mod is turning me into a Nazi, i know my slow defeat is rather historical but this can't happen to me.
I demand that they win, if they do not they will be shot!
Aslo I have one question.
What is the unwritten rule on editing or even viewing the enemies force pool prior to deployment. I for one never touch what the AI decides to field against me unless it is stupid (six snipers or reserves against tanks), but in checking that the AI is not being an idiot i inadvertantly gain an insight into what they are using and plan my deployment accordingly. Is the fair, can it be justified as intelligence?
In my frustration at the inpure halfwits that are bringing shame to the glorious Reich i may be tempted to dabble with the enemies force pool. I need some peer pressure to remove the temptation. |

I just wanted to express my sincere thanks for this mod, I have only managed to complete three of the battles in the grand campaign and so far it is flawless. I prefer to fight to the death (no time limit/ no low morale) and was impressed with the balance so far. Playins as the germans i have noticed that not only are they running out of ammo sooner but are not as effective against the enemy. The russian units are noticbley smarter, harder and larger, i really had to throw everything at them to the point my motor teams ran out of ammo and had to retake a victory location with knives.
Thank you for all your hard work, I have total respect and admiration for the whole team. |

Fellow fans, i decided to load some mods for COI but the mod swap link on the command centre does not do anything when I click on it. I have tried downloading CFG managers for CC3 & CC5 to see if i can load the plug in from there, however when youopen the CFG the plugins don't show in the manager.
Anyone got an idea of where i am going wrong? |
