Will 50% of the AI teams remain immobile? If yes, I could send them some vitamins
|
I noticed the support teams remaining immobile but not too much else. This usually works ok for AI if not as I would like it. This only becomes a huge problem in meeting engagements where it's generally vital to move you're MG and AT teams up where they can do their job.
I've never met an AI that was a challenge. They become predictable and often have many flaws to exploit. It's what stopped me playing rome: total war. If activision can't make a decent AI then I don't expect people at home to.
P.S. Many thanks to salhexe for your excellent vetmods |

I also really liked this site. Here's a link to another site I enjoyed looking at and may have particular relevance to mod makers http://www.channel4.com/history/microsites/W/ww2weapons/
I never knew the HT pazerjager teams in the BoB mod were hitler youth! It would be great if they had modded in the bicycles too.
As an afterthought, is that a picture of you or somebody else Antifa? I hope you'll forgive me if I sound chauvanistic but I've never met a lovely girl with a keen interest in wargames and their technical workings. If that's the case then the world is a better place because of it.

Forum: CC5 Stalingrad Posted: Tue Sep 11, 2007 12:23 am Subject: gun crews unkillable? |
I had an unusual battle where the Russian AI had selected to have no less than 5 AT guns. It done this after I had killed all of it's command units. I hatched a plan where my infantry was in the second line of buildings with MG34s covering the front and no less than 4 8cm granatenwerfers in the rear. I thought my mortars would make mince of the gun crews in no time and I could bring my infantry forward. I gaped in amazement as countless mortar shells burst directly on the crews heads with absolutely no effect.
In reality those guys would be so much strawberry jam.
My own German AT crews can even (rarely) be killed by small arms fire from the front and they live in fear of Russian mortars even when in excellent cover.
Is this a fault with the game data? Or a result of the vetmod? Do AT guns have top armour? Please fill me in. |

do the Russian AT rifles cause german tanks to explode?

A good AT rifle team will know where the fuel tank is located on enemy armour and will always aim for it. If they were to try to kill individual crew members the tank would still be able to turn it's gun(s) on them and turn them into bite sized chunks |

The problem is that you are using them as "Tank Hunters" all small AT Weapons must be used as "Tank Ambushers" At least thet is my strategy and works just fine. And of course some weapons just can´t penetrate some armor.
|
I've only ever used panzerjager units to ambush and there still useless. Panzerjager (german for tank hunter if you hadn't guessed) is a misnomer in stalingred. I've tried countless times, sometimes with two at once, and have only once knocked out any armour. And as for armour penetration tellermines and panzerhandmines are specifically designed to destroy tanks and should do so. Plus the benzinkannisters and molotovs those guys are packing are incendiary and don't need to pierce the armour. It's more a matter of cooking your enemy in a neat little metal box (yum). Something really should be done about it.
The range I'd have to agree with as I'm pretty sure the mines had to be stuck on a tank rather than thrown. However this can't really be done in CC5 as there's no such thing as a fuse and your lads would blow themselves to kingdom come. |

I've got a beast of a captured PanzerKampferwagon T-60 743(r). I'm not sure about the medals so I'll just describe them. No tank or arty kills, yet...
Weber: 125 kills 12 acts of bravery
1 bronze oval thingie
2 black cross w. red bit
2 plain black cross
2 silver cross w. red bit
Issertz: 12 kills w. 1 bravery
silver oval thingie
And it's only the 16th so to infinity and beyond if they don't get killed first. I'd be heartbroken if they did too, there almost like personal friends by now. I'll post again with the conclusion. |

I noticed the same problem. Two pioneer units and one pazerjager done absolutely nothing. Then the swine rolled through a minefield without losing thier tracks . Perhaps panzerjager teams should have a wee bit more ammo so tha once you've got inside a tanks dead zone you can exploit your situation a bit more. |

And all this talk of truth and censorship. Jesus people, how much of what you read in the newspapers and see on tv do you think is true.
If you're American then your media is probably just as full of crap as it was in Stalin's Russia. And the Brittish news isn't much better. The only truth we hear is always 50 years old.
To prove this just try watching the news or reading the papers from 3 different countries and look at the differences.
Moreover what we hear is always tainted by opinion. Our media tells us what to feel about the information they just gave us.
And I'm sick of this hollywood idea that America is the "good guys" If I was to list Americas atrocitys for just the last ten years I'd probably fill a library. You guys get round international treatys on human rights by setting up "torture camps" in other countries. The human rights violations in guantanamo bay are the tip of the iceberg. The CIA have funded just about every fascist dictator around at one time or another. And when Saddam Hussain fired gas shells at Kurdish civilians who do you think sold him the gas? America of course silly.

Ernie you truly are a product of the modern age. You're views are as idealist as they are zealously excliamed. The running of any state on this planet requires suffering of some kind. You only have to look at Iraq and the countless innocent women and children killed in you're name so that you can drive a big shiney SUV filled with blood tainted petroleum. Or the pregnant women and children force fed meth-amphetimine in the sweat shops so you can have your designer clothes. The only difference today is the distance between our noses and our s**t.
I'm not defending Stalin who was a horrible bastard make no mistake. But to run a large and culturally diverse state requires brutality. Even if we wished it wasn't modern day China is run in much the same way. Our leaders have no problem dealing with them or even giving them the olympics.
And why are you so angry about the atrocitys commited on Russian people when in your opening statement you say you don't care about them or what they have to say.
Ernie you are a windbag, empty but for lots of hot air.
Perhaps you would like to settle this matter like men on the battlefields of Stalingrad? Bitch! |

Air strikes have brought me mixed results. I've seen them take out two tanks and a bunch of infantry. On the other hand I've had them miss a cluster of 5 heavy tanks and take out nothing but my nearby granatenbusch just as it's aiming at the rear of an enemy tank. |

The stuGs low profile also make it more difficult to nail it good and proper.
My bother has been with the russian medium tanks. My tank leader (panzer IIIj) landing no less than twenty AP shells on a T34 (or was it 37 I can't remember the numbers) and only got nailed its self. On another occasion my medium paK completely unloaded at under 100m and still didn't take down its mark. AAAAAARGH |

I was thinking about making this mod myself (once I spent a year learning how and assembling a team).
If you haven't already done so may I reccomend getting some old ordinance survey maps from the library to help in your mapmaking. These were done to great detail around the time of the war and were made for just such an occasion as operation sealion. |

I had a sneaky suspicion socrates wasn't as peaceful as his white toga suggested but I knew for sure Plato had a wee hobbie of making and using war machines including a giant magnifying glass to burn Roman ships (he must have played with ants as a boy). So I picked this.
I mean when you think of Plato you imagine him asking people awkward questions or sitting in deep thought. Not caving in peoples heads with a sword. |

Although I've never used one as I always have force strength on "vet" those churchill crocodiles are great. The thought of infantry fleeing in terror or on fire makes me smile (sadistically). And those spigot mortars are devistating. |

A much easier way to install would be to simply use the config manager you used to install GJS itself. The vetmod is installed in exactly the same way and just as easily removed |

I don't like to let AI see all. I'm pretty sure it comes as standard with the battle of Berlin vetmod (the best for single player) and the clairvoiant tanks that shoot you're ambushing 88's down some obscure line of fire that you didn't see even though you just spent 15 mins working out the best place for it. . No, stick to normal play with a good old vetmod. Thinking of vetmods, is there one for GJS? |

After an hour of confusion and reading the forums I realised that the german vetmod is labelled as making it harder to play as the russians in downloads. If somebody could please fix that then I might save others this confusion. thanks |

Yeah I've noticed. I think it's due to larger squad size. They fit inside buildings with enough space. I really don't get that mod. If it's supposed to make it harder for the russians then why do they have larger, tougher units? I played the first map and if the aggressiveness is increased then why did I just wipe the floor with the germans using one light tank and two mortars? (I didn't get a single casualty) They just sat about taking a kicking. I'm gonna try to find out a bit. |

I knew there would be a lot of military names so I chose a name that stand out. I thought of a few others first but "Ghandi" was too non violent and "Fairy Princess Barbie" might make me seem a little bit effeminate.
Hey thanks for the info on the divisions I'll be sure to look out for the lads. I can't believe somebody bothered to put a kilt on the snipers but I like it! |
