Well since Misfit gave such an interesting, and well written view from the russian side. I thought I should contribute something from the german camp as well.
It was my turn to fight for "The Krupp Raiders" on day 2, of the 2nd op, and my opponent was Ol' Misfit himself. The map was "Festung" where my teammate "Tribaltank" had opened the op against Psychokom@. The Russians were holding a sizable portion of the town, but had paid a hefty price for those gains.
Hoping to seize the chance while Misfit had to replenish the russian roster, I pressed an attack along the southern edge of the town. My forward units met Misfit's defenses almost in the opening minute of the battle, and it was clear the russian side meant to hold on to as much of the town as possible.
I brought in our panzer auto, and pz 38recon variant both giving support fire from their 2cm flak guns. This helped push the russian infantry back, and the germans began to push forward. A 7.62 PaK was then discovered in a building blocking our way, as it fired on our advancing units. Our german engineers were sent to deal with gun, and with support from our Wespe, put it out of action.
The russians then added mg fire from posistions both north, and south. Again, our light panzers made the difference, and blazed a safe route for the panzergrenadiers. Most of the town center, as well as the southern flank were secured before the 18min time limit ran out. Indeed the previous days losses had added to the success, as no russian armor was encountered.
I now pass kommand of our Krupp Raiders on to teammate "Stosstrupp" who will also face Misfit on day 3. I'll rest up, and prepare to face "Shiekh" on day 4! Thanks to all participants! This has been a blast so far!
I got to help with the testing on this op, and it was a lot of fun! Both players get a lot of resources, and the sides are pretty well balanced. It encompasses a nice mix of terrain offered in the original CC3 maps. No holds barred on this one, each opponent gets plenty of refitting so you must dominate a map to controll it! Great imagination Rosum!
In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
