I started desinging a WW2 RTS game in the beginning of the summer with the help of a few other people, but things slowy stopped when one or my main game designers computer broke. Since then i've been working on and off and lost touch with many of the people that were involved. Things though, are starting to pick up, and I have a website currently being made.

Some of the features of the game-
-3d with realistic graphics
-basic gameplay elements of an RTS
-Limited base building- like a tent for the HQ building
-supply routes, supply trucks drive off the map on a road and after a given time appear and drive back to drop off ammo at a supply depot
-resource syatem based on requisition, at the moment its unsure how to do this (how you get it)
-Smart AI- think of it like CC, units take cover sneak etc...(better pathfinding though Wink )
-Realistic armor for each unit, tanks can be immobilized/destroyed depending on the armor angle of impact what part of the tank and what size round was fired
-Bullet tracking system for units, much like and FPS

These are just some features that I have planed for the game, as you can see I want it to be as realsitic as possible. And before you say its immposible to do this just look at www.wildfiregames.com/0ad this game started out as a plan like mine and now look at it. Once I the website is finished Im going to start things back up again and try and ghet in contact with all the other people that were involved and get this thing rolling.

But the reason I post this is that if any of you can help or want to please post (mainly looking for game designers) I know this will take a long time but if any of you are willing and dedicated enough this can happen.

Great news! A programmer saw my post on a different site, and he has a nearly finished graphics engine that he wants used for an RTS. In a couple of weeks i'll probably have a demo to show some basic camera movement and some terrain. Its a great start, looks like this projeect can be finished.
Still looking for somoene to help with game designing Wink

Edit-heres a screen

That's sounds very interesting Smile Do you have any data about the engine, like how many triangles per vehicle it can handle, whether it's DirectX 9.0 compatible (so you can have normal maps, dynamic ligting, etc)? Also, what game area do you want to cover (like single 2x2km maps -a'la CC or even bigger; or maybe a huge area that's hundreds sq kilometers wide, like in WW2 online)?

Amount of traingles for vehicles, dont know. Its coded in OpenGl it can do shadows and all that but it doesnt need directx. Plus side is that it is easier to port to different operating systems like Linux and Mac.

Maps I plan will be at least 200x2000 feet,I changed meters into feet since it is smaller for gameplay reasons, you would have to zoom out really far to see a decent sized part of the map. Almost 1x1km

The engine questions, im not to sure about, im no programmer, ill have to ask about it. A demo of the engine should be up in about a week, maybe two

temporary forums until we get the main site up

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
