Hi,

First, I have to admit that I don't know how to mod both CC3 and CC4, but these games are so good that a question came to me: why not modding Der Kessel in CC4 and CC3 as well?

I know that some of you are really good fans of these. I have no time to look at this possibility but if someone is really interested, please contact me: I will supply you with everything you might need (including the maps of the incoming CC5 Kessel which are all 2880x2880 or less).

It is a bottle in the sea but,....

Cheers

CC3 would deprive us aof the great possibilties of the strategic map.
CC4 is mosty the same as CC5.

If anyone is willing to do it, nice. But it is not really a win.

Hi pzjager,

I 'm sure The mod will be superb on CCV but it could be even better when importing it to CC4.

-graphics could easely be modified.
-Force pools need some work, but wouldn't be a major obstacle.
-Maps can be decreased in size to fit CC4
-The only problem would be the stratmap, but Pfc Michael just finished making one from scratch, so this also can be done.

I would be very inerested to look into this.

I will PM you my mail adress.

Greetz

Hi Aetius,

I have sent you a PM but want to answer you on a public forum as well:

1) Graphics are NOT a problem. All the Kessel Map sizes will fit the CC4 standard and I really believe that it will not be difficult to convert the CC3 (yes! CC3!!!!!!!!!!!!!) element codings to CC4 (this have been made a lot of years ago with WinterWar).

2) If you think that it is now possible to make a CC4 stratmap: woaw!!!! The last issue is broken!!!

3) FPools will have to be modified: Yes , OF COURSE, but it is really there that we can improve in some way CCV!!!!!!!!! Here again, some help is, I believe, readily available through people like TT or Luer/moloch.

I only posted a possibility on the forum. I don't have any time to spend on a CC3 or CC4 Kessel mod, but will definitively support any work in this area.

Cheers

yeah CC2 has the best AI out of all of them, but CC3 has all the units of the eastern front, and CC4 has better graphics out of the 3. i dunno i'm not a good tech person. Very Happy

But CC2 is the best!

-More people play CC2 on line then any other CC.
-It can have more maps then CC4 and CC5
-The Engine is idealy suited for link up operations
-You can blow up bridges.
-Can have more then two countires.
-Best AI (Thou thats dependent largly on the map size)
-Has the best battlemaker.
-And the most important its my favorite Very Happy

of course thats just me.

CCII has forcepools. What do you mean by that it does not have force pools. Question

Hi Platoon Michael,

As far as I know, it is still impossible to do a stratmap for CC4?

If it has changed and if it is possible, I would be happy to share my Graphic files and my maps.

And it would be necessary to modify the data files, as CC4 and 5 are different from this point of vue (which is,I think, the main diference between the two games and the advantage of CC4...)

Looking from your comments

Nembo,

Once again, I have no time to do this mod, but if you are interested in doing a CC2 version, I can send you all what you need and join your team as something like a counsellor.

Cheers

I know my first attempt at doing a strategic map for CCIV had some flaws but I feel very confident that it is indeed very possible to do.
Just cant have the bad planning that I did.
http://www.closecombat.org/forums/showthread.php?t=10126&page=5
http://www.closecombat.org/forums/showthread.php?t=9826

pgs.4/5 of the first link describe what I feel was my biggest error took me a long time to figure that out.
Importing Der Kessel into CCIV wouldnt be that hard, but as you mentioned the Force Pools would need to be all redone. As well as all the .adb files.

Maps would be easy with Mafi's CC2 Tool, some may end up being cropped as the map limit size in CCIV is 2880X2880
Strategic map isnt too hard but is very time consuming.
Force Pools I have never done and would probably present the biggest challenge unless someone was willing to help out.
The biggest flaw to any CCIV mod is the things that cant be edited.
I.E. Weather/Support and the Operation Grief aspect (This redirects BG's on the strategic map for either the first 2 or first 3 days)

If Nembo is very serious about a CCII version,I think it might be a little too much,One mod 3 different versions.I dont know what do you think?

I have been thinking of importing a CCV mod into CCIV for sometime just cant decide which one,but I do know I have a great deal of intrest in seeing/playing your mod from the very first day I seen your maps.I consider them to be very incredible, best winter maps I have ever seen.

Opps sorry about the confusion PJ, what I meant was the historical time frame of the mod. Like what date are you starting it on and what date is the mod ending on.

Any ways. If I do do the CCII version it wont be any time soon, as I have severl other prijects that I am still finishing up. As for too many version of the mod, unless PJ has a problem with heck I dont see whats wrong with making a version for every CC, even CCI. lol

I had thought that Aretius, was going to give a CC4 conversion a go, but I a haven't heard a word from him. So...
