I bought CC5 recently because I liked CC2 alot and thought it was time for something fresh. But i am really disappointed! The game is great but it's that horrible AI !!
Is it just me or does CC2 seems much harder than CC5 ??
In CC5 the AI barely moves his tanks, the infantry run into MG fire over and over and over again, the AI never heard of defending or flanking, he just wants that last Victory Location while I am the one that should be attacking.... It's just a matter of setting up your men, press begin , put the game in fast mode and watch your men slaughtering the enemy. You dont even have to move your men, the AI just keeps sending cannon fodder...

Can someone tell me how I can make this game more difficult without losing the realistic aspects? Why was CC2 so much harder? Why does the AI intend to attack if they are supposed to defend?
It kinda ruins the game.

Do people still play this game online?

Thx, Colossos

Colossos, play online, a dial up connection will run this game fine if you don't have broadband. If you're a good cc2 player you'll no doubt be good at GJS. Download some of the more popular mods as not many people play vanilla cc5 anymore. Details in the download section.

Against the IA the better way to play against agressif IA is this setting:

Play in 15 min.
Give to the IA at least +1 experience level ( IA: Recruit * You: Green or line)
Rebuild every time the default IA Bg.

But anyways IA will still very bad player. To avoid those tired battle against a Stupid IA, go in H2H .. You will see than for the online game CCV is on the top fun game of the series ( of course, online they are all in top fun game)

Tout est possible ... il faut juste connaitre quand.

As an original lover of CCII (did not like CCIII or CCIV) when I swopped to CCV I initially thought the AI was not as good... but I think it is the actual theatre of war that makes it harder... playing CCII as the allies is hard.
However after playing H2H you will find that no AI can beat the mind of a sneaky human at the other end who will set his troops up in all manner of ways (not just lying out in the open like the AI)... ambush at every opportunity and play use every dirty trick in the book and make use of every advantage possible to kick your ass!
Every player seems to have there own little tricks and one day you can be doing well, on another you're glad to log off!
My favourite is feigning retreat with a badly mauled infantry group only to ambush a cocky opponent that runs all his men out in the open!, another is using snipers and MGs alone to wipe out an entire BG (except for tanks) on the beach maps!

Get you online up and running on Gamespy... the mods I use are GJS (most like CCII) and Stalingrad though there are others out there that you may enjoy.

There are some Veteran mods out there for CCV single player though they don't make it much harder as computers never truly have AI.... the day they do we will probably end up like the film Terminator!!

Good Luck and have fun. Smile

To have some settings just for AI makes better AI preformance.

This is how I play AI:

Maybe there are others who have ideas to get good/better AI?

Play with only 5 squads and edit the ennemy group so he hase a good selection, this will make it a bit harder Very Happy

Edit: and always play the attacker, AI don't know how to attack...

I play exclusively with a single platoon. Pretty tough, usually I only have 1 tank/spg.

I put myself on elite and the enemy on green, this gives them a lot more men right?

I never mess with their BG or realism settings, I'm gonna try that out.

BTW, what is the HARDEST mod for Germans? I am playing CC5 exclusively, using the ardennes offensive vetbob mod... I don't like early war too much.

I might give Karelia a try, I have a thing for the Finns.

Meuse is fairly hard for Germans (if you played one platoon).
