Just finished playing my first ever grand campaign. Standard CC5 Normandy was the area of operations. I played as the Americans using Line difficulty, whereas the Germans were set to Green. 90 battles in all with 15 days to spare when the Germans were routed. The final tally:
Now, either I missed my calling and should have been a General or else the AI opponent is not much of a challenge! Next time I will have to adjust the difficulty settings more in favour of the AI. I like CC5's focus on infantry combat but found that even the small number of tanks spoilt this somewhat. (One of my tanks had over 120 infantry kills!). After one battle I discovered that one of the German soldiers had committed 11 acts of cowadice! Why didn't he just surrender? Does anyone have any suggestions as to which mod would be good to play next?
First i though "WOW what a good player" ,but then i realised it was against AI
Try Stalingrad or Overlord, both mods are great
And try yourselfagainst human opponents, you will have much more fun playing CC.

The AI is very weak. Playing against human opponents online will give you a much better game. Download gamespy and off you go.
My advice would be download the mod GJS 4.4. I find it is the most popular and probably best for beginners. It's very rare to see anyone playing vanilla CC5 online. Find it plus instructions in the popular downloads section of this site.
There is also a very nifty GJS strategy guide located here:
