On a slightly more macabre note it should be realised that the reason many tank drivers/crewmen carried sidearms with them had nothing to do with shooting at the enemy Sad

Zappi is pretty much right on that. The germans, British, etc. did not have weapons small enough to fit into a tank (pistols and grenades only) except the americans which have the "Grease Gun" a small cheap and a good Smg.

The grease gun wasn't good!?!

A: Stay with tank? And defend it..
B: Go back and possible get it towed? (if you would be the only tank there? dont happen often i guess, so other crews ought to report your position and status.)
C: Join the Infantry who you are close to, and fight of a possible attack?
D: Panic and run!

I belive all alternatives is possible and more.

As for Swede Tank training (WW2), they would dismount a Coax MG (done in no time), and with that take a defencive possition and defend the tank. (this is doctrine). So a surviving tank crew, would be much like a Swed MG team, 1 SMG, 3 Pistols and a 8mm MMG...
If the tank is burning, no tank to defend ofcose, and no MG will be removed ofcose...

If there was an AA MG on the turret, you could climb up and use it.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
