As many have heard CSO Simtek has been given the go ahead. While no official announcment has been made, thier staff are talking about it. Official news should come in a couple weeks or less. Untill then there are many things they cannot divulge into. There are some important questions that I hope they answer soon...
1. Will patches be released so we dont have to buy the game again to benefit from the updates.
2. Will the newer versions of CC be compatible with all the mods?
3. How will only play be affected, if at all? For instance, will the new versions be promoting Power Lobbies as the new playing arena, will they promote the current gaming arenas, or finally, will there be any change at all?
4. How will the game be re-released? Downloads or bought from stores? Will they be bundled together? I doubt stores want to put a 6-9 year old game one thier shelves when XBOX360 games sell alot more from thier shelves.
5. It was made known that some of the upgrades would be changes to compatability. Will this include the most infamous problem of firewalls? DirectX and WinXP compatability have caused far less problems when compared to the firewall issue.
6. Vickelvar who works for Matrix Games has also been talking about it, this could mean involvement by them. Matrix games does sell thier own games straight off thier website, they also own Wargamer.com which runs a game server capable of connectiong CC2/3/4/5 users.Whats the scope of thier involvement?
As for CC6 we do know that it will not be 3D, it will be WW2 and will contain many features you have seen from CCM. Time will tell.

i dreammm of cc6 WW2 mod compatible,multiplayer 2d play.
Forget words, actions will show your true ambitions! The Battlefield,In many cases, the terrain of a battlefield can be the best resource a commander has. A clump of trees, an abandoned house, or a drainage ditch can all be powerful tools in the right hands
Only this time it covers the entire campaign, with a much larger strat map, thus meaning more playing maps, weather that changes terrain from mush to frozen.
And anything else I want just as soon as they come a courtin for info.
I'm still waiting for their e-mail requesting my ideas.
You do that on the battlefield, not on a Strategic map. One commander would not control both strategic and tactical elements - they would both fall to differently ranked soldiers.
I want promotions, like in CC2! And arty spotters.
Quote:
agree with you
promotions like in CC2
full historical for medals/scores from CCIII
new stuff from blitzkrieg like "creating" sandbags for guns/vehicules, to transport soldiers with specific vehicules...on very large maps
..........and a real strategic map like Rome total War with access directly to tactical battles you want !
Well, you could say that you should be different ranks and from different parts of the military to make all kinds of decisions, but when it comes down to it, you are the supreme commander in CC, both in the trenches and in the Big Picture. If you left it up to the AI you would get all kinds of crappy things happening.
I want the 16 unit limit removed! At least so mods can change it
I'd prefer the theatre to be Pacific or France during the Blitzkrieg.
With improved AI, improved gameplay and (not very important) but improved graphics!

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
