Hi there,
after "total victory", I get the message that the enemy's unit was forced to disband - or mine, after "total defeat".
Will the units re-appear in a campaign?
In which strengths?
After how many turns?
Or are they gone for ever?
What are the criteria that a unit comes back or is lost for ever?
They will re-appear next turn at a supply base, unless all supply bases are full. There must be a "queue" of some sort that they enter along with the reinforcements that the game gives you.

Yes i would agree that there is some sort of queue in the order in which they came in
i am just finishing up a GJS campaign and my opponent still has a panther bg and a few other yet to come on the map but all he keeps getting are his old tired units at the supply depot
if anyone one knows any further information on how this works i would be greatfull

What more information do you need? Disbanded units have precedence over reinforcements. You can stop the reinforcements from coming in altogether if you occupy the depot and can force the BG to disband every turn - not hard since they have to fight their way onto the map. You can keep the reinforcements out almost indefinitely if you disband more than one unit - when one's reserves are depleted, you still have the others blocking the queue.
