I am doing an airstrike guide for K2. All the aircraft say thier primary & valid targets are terrain. I dont understand what that means. Can it not damage vehicles, guns or infantry?

Can someone explain how terrain is a target?

Seems to me if you order an airstrike damage is dealt at a certain amount of "terrain" random(?) around where you placed your smoke for an airstrike to be. (airstrikes sure as hell NEVER hit all the things i WANT to be hit *lol*)

Meaning that it is possible to call in an airstrike everywhere on the map, it will come, guns and bombs will do damage to the terrain. If enemy soldiers, tanks etc are on that spot of terrain it will kill or damage them. If not, just the terrain will be damaged. I think the same principle goes for arty and mortar support. Call it in and it will "target" an amount of terrain where it does damage, whether that terrain is occupied or not.

Hope you get my point, it`s always hard to explain something in a foreign language, even when it`s oh so clear in my native language.

In the weapons file the different targets are Infantry, Tanks, Terrian, and then different mixtures of the three.

A Rifle would be set to Infantry, shoot those Soldiers.
A Panzerfaust would be set to Tank, shoot that tank.
A Mortar would be set to Terrian, flatten that hill.

I dont know how most mods code airplanes but its something mostly for the AI, so it wont make a big difference to the human player. So yes while the targets are set to terrian the planes can still attack tanks and infantry.

yer u want to set the primary target to

depending what the airstrike payload is.

say u have a plane with bombs/rockets capable of taking out a vehicle

u may want to set vehicles as primary target

and for a valid target use number 7 which is all 3

or a P51 with 50cals primary may be troops ect.

example i set my zook to vehicle as primary target

but have 7 as a valid target

this way i can forcefire the weapon into a house or hedgerow

when the enemy r just out of LOS and still cause injury/death/suppression to them

if there was a tank and enemy inf together

and my zook team was to move fast at them

my small arms would auto target the troops, while the zook will auto target the tank.(better example of faust use as shrek and zook take slight more set up time)

some modders dont like the zooks and shreks being used against infantry.

they could change the valid target value.

Forget words, actions will show your true ambitions! The Battlefield,In many cases, the terrain of a battlefield can be the best resource a commander has. A clump of trees, an abandoned house, or a drainage ditch can all be powerful tools in the right hands
