|
|
It all started when I started to backup my CC Mod collection from CDRs to DVDR discs. I ended up with 3 (well 3 and 1/2 actually) of DVDR discs of my Mods. Before it was a tall stack of CDRs, and now they all fit into just 3-4 DVDRs (single layer 4,7GB). It didn't make sense to make custom covers/liners for the stack of CDRs...but with just 3-4 DVDRs I wanted to dress them up! I wanted to design custom DVD covers/liners for the Mod discs. This 'project' was delayed a few times...I was too busy re-playing regular CC5 (after re-watching The Band Of Brothers series, I always feel compelled to play a few ops of Normandy battles!) and also having too much of a blast with Okinawa (the standalone version is relatively crash free).
Finally got around to designing the DVD cover thing this weekend...took me a few hours to put it together (plus another few more researching and leeching pics, mod info and stuff from the internet)...but it was good therapy. I wanted to create something that looks official and I think it turned out okay.
Here's a big thumbnail pic of the DVD cover (download the full size cover at the link at the bottom of this post):
If you guys like it and want to use it...feel free...but of course you'd have to burn a compilation DVDR with the Mods on the back of the DVD cover as guideline. In other words base your compilation DVDROM disc on mine. I didn't really have a system when making the actual DVDR compilation...so it's not alphabetical or Theater of Ops based or anything like that...not even based on CC version. So Expansion Set One is basically a bunch of my fave Mods thrown together into a DVDROM disc compilation.
I can upload a high-res version (300dpi) in anyone's interested.
If I can get away from finishing up my Okinawa GC, I'll be making the second Expansion Set cover next week.
Download the full size DVD cover (150dpi res). |

Thats very very cool.
I bought a CD label kit for Xmas one year and used it to create custom CD images for my disks/mods.
Looks soo cool to have on the disk for Meuse/B.O./GJS etc etc etc
It's just a shame VETBoB didnt get mentioned. |

Nicely done squadleader_id. Do you have plans with it other than just keeping it in your own collection? On CCS, myself and Zappi were about to go ahead with a "mod order" program similair to Mark Paquetski's GJS cdrom offer of a few years ago. |

Thanks for the positive feedback guys!
Sapa, it's the least I can do for the hours of 'miniature combat on the computer screen' your work (and the other dedicated modders) has given me .
Like I said before...I compiled my Mods collection into 3 (soon 4) DVDR discs.
So there will be 3 Expansion Pack covers.
VetBoB will certainly get a mention on the info for Ardennes Offensive.
I didn't include info on submods/vetmods due to space limit...maybe next time when I make 32 page booklets suplements for the Expansion Packs...just kidding! |

Thanks, Mooxe. Actually I just wanted to share (okay...and show off...LOL) my work. And...if the CC community wanted something cool to 'dress up' their dusty CC Mods collection...simply print my DVD cover (highres laser color prints works best!) and burn a DVDR with the listed Mods. Now you can proudly display the CC Expansion Packs on your game shelf with the rest of your games collection (assuming you play other games...I dont ).
But if you like my stuff and want to incorporate them into an 'official' "mod order" program...I'd be honored!
Let me know what you had in mind...I'm all ears. |

What fonts did you use for "Close Combat" and "Expansion Pack?" |

Believe it or not for "CC" it's just Impact font...modified slightly.
For "Expansion Pack" = armalite
Now for my noob question...I used to have the font you're using for the "Close Combat Series" logo (similar to font used for CC2: ABTF)...haven't tracked it down again. I remember this as Stamped font or something? |

I've had a dream for years now to make a CC coffee table book.
I have access to an Indego press that could be used for the printing.
The book would display maps for all the popular mods with details/info on the real battle on the back page of the next page.
It's just the amount of time involved that kills the project. |
