ok , i am not able to get a game running on gamespy , when hosting a game and someone joins ,the other person does not connect to the game ...

i get the following when i click to host a game

"GameSpy Arcade has detected that your computer's internal IP address (192.168.1.100) is different than its external IP address (59.167.35.168). This may be caused by firewalls, a NAT proxies, or other unusual network configurations and may prevent you from hosting a game. Please see our Firewall Guide for further information. You can access it by choosing "Help with GameSpy Arcade" from the Help menu."

i have done port forwarding on my router (iconnect access 624) and opened up the ports needed for game spy + cc5 .. and still comes up with the same error .. another thing is that i can see there might be 20 people in the server room , with most of those online in a game , but only one or two games are listed ..??

i am guessing there is something else that needs to be done with the ip address ... anyone got any ideas?

well if you followed my picture guide to port forwarding, and saved and reset all others things correctly, then reset everything, i cant see the problem, apart from:

a) windows firewall?
b) nortons/zone alarm/avg firewalls?
c)try it all again.....i gave up and got hosted for 2 years, then i tried again, and done it!

The new problem these days is double routers. ISPs will give you a "modem" which is actually a router also. All the router settings will be blocked out cause we are just dummies who shouldnt be changing those advanced settings.

Yanni, confirm with your ISP that your modem isnt also a router, and give me the brand and model name so I can check it out.

oh sorry i forgot to mention that my router is my modem ..

it is an iConnectAccess 624 by "open networks" , there is a guide on portforwarding.com but only for the wireless version , i tried it and it did not work , but i figured it would not mainly due to the fact that it did not mention opening up udp and tcp for game spy .

i have looked at the picture guide and basically i have done the same with my modem , though following the guide that came with the manual .

the last thing i can think of , is that the port forwarding actually worked .... i still got the same "ip error" when i clicked to host a game but i didt not actually try to host one because of the error message ...

i will see if i can get a game to host with the error and report back .
