Hi,

I have returned to my old favourite Close Combat after many ears. Bought a copy from ebay and looking forward to play some of the great mods on this site. BUT, I can´t install the game. There is a previous version on my computer so when I try to install it goes to the InstallShield Wizard who instead tries to remove the game. But that doesn´t work.

So my computer thinks I have the game already and won´t install the real thing. I have tried to remove the old program but somehow it doesn´t work either...
I use win XP.

Any help would be very appreciated!

Thanks for your reply! What is safe mode? Sorry if is a stupid question, but I´m not very good with computers.

Do you mean when starting windows, there is something called safe mode?

Yes. Boot your computer, and when it does the DOS stuff press F8 after the system check, and from there select the Safe Mode. Then try to install the game.

Your best bet is cleaning up your registry (using regedit).
Do a search and delete all registry entries containing Close Combat.

Thanks for the help! I´ll try the safe mode thing. Cleaning up the registry is something I´ve already tried.. It refused to remove the CC5 entry!

I´ll be back if it doesn´t work with more stupid questions.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
