and of all of its components ?'
No not really, I just want to reinstall CC5 and this is what happens when I run the setup.exe from my CDRom (genuine)
There is also un erreur extracting support files : Access is denied. apparently which i think is a bit rich since I paid nearly £4 for the privilege of unadulterated access
CAN SOME WISE SAGE HELP ME WASTE MORE OF MY LIFE PRETENDING TO REPEL THE ALLIED INVASION OF NORMANDY PLEASE !? |

Get a program like Crap Cleaner(freeware) and clean out your temporary files. That should do the trick. |

Sounds like you deleted CC5 without doing the uninstall option. Run regedit.exe and do a search for all things "cc5" "invasion normandy" and delete any entry you find. As you delete them, keep trying to re-install. |

A thousand thanks for all your help (apart from Searry's which was of no practical use)
HOWEVER, I am still dogged by the same problem.
I downloaded and ran CCleaner, deleting god knows what and meticulously picked through my registry and removed all things CC.
plan C anyone ?? |

Yup, I tried that too.
The only advance I think i've made is that now when I run CC5.exe from the CD it now offers me the opportunity to install as opposed to just playing, of course the same message appears after the initial InstalShield wizard
Do you want to completely remove etc etc
If I say yes it states that maintenance has been completed if I say no it just disappears.
Again I am most grateful for any help anyone can offer and the help offered so far.
If it helps I installed a few mods previously and the 501a patch, however i've attempted to track these down and remove them too. You're right to think I probably deleted the files without uninstalling, i'm that sort of carefree/happy-go-lucky windows user i'm afraid... or i was.. |

Did you look in the "program files" on your C drive to see if there's still an "SSI" folder? If so delete it.
I think I had a similar problem once and found that SSI folder still existed so deleted it and all was well for the new install.
*Disclaimer - I'm no tech, so be carefull with my advice. |

Iv'e been through the registry and deleted all the SSI/Close Combat entries. I've cleared everything with reg cleaner. I even checked my installshield files and couldnt find a corresponding intstallshield files. So. Damn.
Any help would be much appreciated. |

I had the same problem while yesterday I wanted to reinstall CC5 from my original CD to play Der Kessel. I've seen this topic while having the same problem today, and now the program is instaled on my computer.
I have two advices to complete the ones given here:
1. Uninstall any mod before uninstalling the program using the plugin manager (that may be the cause of my problem, even if I usually do folders cleanups manually then registry cleanups regularly with Crap Cleaner and an old version of RegCleaner)!
2. Do several registry cleanings, even after rebooting the computer if necessary! It seems that the search function of Regedit (and of the cleaning programs I use) isn't that powerful... |
