when i try to install a mod on Config51 i get a error... usually its "Failed to Copy C:\Program Files/Microsoft Games [whatever the mod name file path is...] because C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Close Combat III\graphics\ccimages.fx does not exist"
No, what happened and unfortunatly happens on occasion with the configuration managers is that the plugin - the .pln file - did not get fully extracted to the \System\Packages\<Mod Name> folder. Since the file wasn't there in the Packages folder, the install stopped and what you are left with is a partial install and partial original files.
While not the fastest way to fix the problem, the simplest way is to uninstall the patch and then uninstall CC5, then reinstall it and the patch to put your CC5 back to it's original condition. (You do not need to back up you Maps folder first, just don't delete any folders after uninstalling.)
Before trying to install any mods again, go to the configuration managers Plugin folder and change the file extention of .pln to .zip for any mods you have not played (if you have sucessfully installed and uninstalled a mod before, it is ok).
Use WinZip, WinAce, WinRAR or any other decompression application to manually extract all the zipped files into the appropriate folder in \System\Packages. That will fix the plugin problems. If you really want, do a check of the file count between the two files - they should match.
You can then rename the .zip back to .pln, copy it to a disc or just delete it as it has served it's purpose and won't be needed again by the configuration manager.
I've run into this extraction problem a few times. I now always manually extract a new plugin again over the configuration manager's job and never have an install or uninstall problem with the mods I do it on. There is no pattern to why the extraction doesn't complete on occasion. It just sometimes does.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
