PostPosted: Thu Dec 07, 2006 9:04 pm Post subject: New CCV Install Problem, XP related? Reply with quote

Hi all, I've trawled the forums and not come across a similar problem.
I'm Installing CCV or the first time on my new laptop.

Install Wizard runs fine, reaches 99% then I get this error window:

Component Transfer Error
Component: Required Data File
File Group: Local FX Files
File: E:/data2.cab
Error: Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check)

Anyone have any ideas as to the cause or a solution?

Thanks

I had the same issue. I tried burning off a copy and installing from that, but same error.

In the end I downloaded an image and used that,

Hi again all,

I've finaly accepted that CC5 CD is damaged and downloaded an image (I know its frowned on but seeing as I already own an original copy of the game I hope i'll be let off this once, kind of downloading the back up that, like a dumb ass, never made)

But now I'm don't know what to do.
I've burned the image on to CD using Nero, run the install. install runs as normal up unill 100% then get the following error:

"CRC Error: The file C:\Program Files\SSI\Closecombat Invasion Normandy \ CC5.ICD doesn't match the file in the setup's .cab file. The medium from which you are running the setup may be corrupted; contact your software vendor."

If I click ignore to that installation continues as normal but when i come to run the game it asks for the CD. There was a No CD Crack included with the image I downloaded bt running this brings up the error "Can not find the directory temp:\ Reinstall Close combat."

(Tried copying the Image to hard disk and running the install but with same result

As you can probably tell I'm not at all Techy so could well be missing something basic and fundamental. Am I doing something wrong with regards to creating the image or does it sound like I've downloaded a duff file?

Any help would be gratefully received... Close Combat cold tukey aint pretty!

Thanks again

That hapens sometimes, try clicking "Browse" and puting the path to your cc5 cd.

I think that if you download and install a mod, you can run it whitout problems.

The real Close Combat starts when you are out of ammo.

Thank Ivan, But I didn't have the option to browse to the CD.

I tried installing Patch 5.1a to see if this would bypass the CD... I didn't let me bypass the CD BUT it did give me the option to browse to the CD and heypresto! CC5 works!

It still requires the CD to be in the in the drive. I've tried browsing to the disk image i'd put on the hard disk but it didn't accept this, it still asked for the CD so if anyone has any idea how to get around needing the CD.... Wink

Next challenge..... Seeing if the MODs work!

Been looking forward to Afrika for ages!!
