Stalky could you give us some background info on the map. Like what is supposed to represent historically, or fictionally. It looks like it may be on a high feature. I think I seen elevation atleast on the west side.

Good day
Thanx men.
Enemy come from Top Left.
Mooxe, this is stödjepunkt,
It's not a main defensive ”fortification”, it's a support fortification coming before main ”defence strong point”.
It’s to soften up the enemy and give main unit time needed for final preparation.
Each strong points fortification may have one or often more of this type of support defence fort.
Notice they have not really a “front or back”.
This case I tried my best to come close as possible, but maybe the animation better say how close.
Some stuff was moved, hopefully not that much.
The main defence arias “fast punkt” are placed in the narrow valleys, all with a river in the basin.
The road net is still today not that good, and in 1940th… only one or sometimes two roads were in each valley.
The valley sides are high hills, or mountains. The trees are confiner trees most of them, and they are plentiful
(not in the fertile and less cold valley basin, there are leaf trees there).
The fortifications is to be placed as seen, in road junctions, and at places tanks cant go (steep hills), this is often the case.
But in some cases (not case here) tank dragon tooth will be added if hills ain steep enough.
The image below illustrates the main fort placement, and then the support fortification was placed in front of em.
Or close to them.
Yes, the gun pits are for AT, though Bofors 40mm AA gun, they to be used in dbl role as AT defence.
The gun pit for 75mm AA is rather similar looking, and for game reasons I made the pit a bit larger so both guns fit.
The concrete bunker in this case is a shelter, (may also in some support fortifications be loogs and rocks and deep berried.
The bunkers followed a standardised pattern a “type”, tested to resist a full hit of artillery.
There was two levels of protection, full hit proof 10.5 cm HE or 15.5cm HE. The side was added with granite.
The “type” was if needed adapted to specific need or situation, there are some with MG ports,
though not here, not to be confused with the dedicated MG bunkers (Ksp Värn).
The Shelter here is not a fighting compartment, it’s a living quarter and a place for reserves to be safe until needed.
In this map this will be as in reality, no windows will be added only a sub surface door.
This is a blockhus, it’s a simple bunker made of logs and as a internal strength they have granite rock or some other hard rock.
Things I have not decided are if I shall add the high “tree hut”, marked “opl för art” in the tree in the animated drawing.
It’s a good look out post, but as I don’t use FO in FS, I haven’t made up my mind if or not to ad it. If added would fit a sniper only.
The fence is typical swede, though today replaced with barbed wire.
Maybe, other nation to have this type of fence?
(Nembo, the roof is terracotta tak tegel)
This Houses is rather typical, “8 knuthus” (top left), rather typical and house is painted Red (Falu Röd).
Hose here have a modern metal roof...
Some have other material as example the “poor man farm” in South Left.
The barn in top left is typical of the barn made in 1930 th and 40 th.
Image here have not correct roof.
The support fortification as well as the main fortification have a outside force, “Fria Kriget” “Fria Jägare”, “Fri Jägartrupp”,
(them names are unfortunately used for a variety of units) the outside force is to take ambush in many places before the support fortification,
and to draw barrage or air attack on them and force the enemy artillery to stop and grope, and at best start fire at the ambushers..
This to slow down enemy and make them use up ammo before they reach the real fortifications.
They are sometimes to lead the own artillery or mortars.

Forget words, actions will show your true ambitions! The Battlefield,In many cases, the terrain of a battlefield can be the best resource a commander has. A clump of trees, an abandoned house, or a drainage ditch can all be powerful tools in the right hands

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
