|
|
I havent been able to access the forums index. I get the old "Cannot find server" error. The address from the link at the top of the home page is
http://www.closecombatseries.net/CCS/modules.php?name=Forums
The other link I see on the page is
http://www.closecombatseries.net/CCS/modules.php?name=Forums&file=index
but it gives the same error. I can get into the forums from the quick "recent posts" links on the right of the home page, but I cant get to the index.
I recently installed XP SP2, but I cant see how that can be the problem.
Is it just me ? Or has anyone else got this?

Problem is Chinese visitors, or atleast people accessing the site from Chinese proxies. If the intent is to attack or legitimate use I do not know. What happens is, these people request the same file 1000's of times consecutavely (sp?). This lags CCS to the point where no services such as EMail, FTP or WWW will take requests. Its been a problem for quite awhile but seems to come and go. Please have a look at http://www.closecombatseries.net/stats/usage_200701.html#TOPURLS and you will see in the top 10, many of the large map packs with over 40,000 hits.
So anyways, thats the long winded exact explanation of the problem. I have been battling it for months and have been largely unsuccessful. I will not be able to address it again untill mid March. |
