I am quite amazed that no one brought this game up. As longstanding fan of Close combat i find this game some what close to CC.

http://www.battlefront.com/products/tow/

It looks good, but it still needs some improvement.

This is where Close Combat should have gone. Isn't that what they told us with CC:Red Phoenix? But that one seesm to have died? Was there ever an announcement that simtek was not going to make this game in the end?

To be quite honest. I lost hope with CC6, it's nothing but talk. No screnshoots no info and for how many years is it in production ?

Try one half year. CC6 is not Red Phoenix. Simtek is finishing up the military contracts associated with it, but it is up to Destineer to revive Red Phoenix.

C'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas la guerre.

Guys, it has nothing to do with CC.

3d, cool looking version of Sudden Strike Smile.

Actually it's more like a less complex Combat Mission.
But Infantry cannot enter buildings!...maybe because TOW is using the IL2 flight sim engine.

I think you need to inform yourself a little better before you compare this game to sudden strike.

And let me make it clear so there is no misunderstanding. This is not create it by the people who created Close combat series. And it is quite different game.

But the values of the armor soldiers are real. There is LOS and morale for the soldiers. And many other stuff that makes this game a realistic one not just a another : get your soldiers together and use WW1 tactics on your enemy.

maybe u need to get some more knowlegdes about CC before u compare WW2 with CC? Wink

i've bought it the day it was out in Russia (half year ago or so) just to prove myself that i was rite about that game Smile. IMO even GIC was better (not to mention about SA).

ye, same for Sudden Strike as well Wink and LOS also.

anyway, that's all IMO.

but they have asked help on russian history forums for help to make WW2 more historical and realistic, guess for v2.

I have played CC since cc2 was out in the stores. Wink. And that was back in 1997. And then one i played every single close combat i could find.

Here is something for you to compare :

Theater of war

http://www.battlefront.com/products/tow/features.html

&

Sudden Strike

http://www.suddenstrike.com/index.php?uid=sudden

The difference between them is quite obvious which one is emphasizing on realism and which one is not.

But i respect if you don't like the game. But calling it "3d, cool looking version of Sudden Strike " is quite far from the truth. Wink

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
