Creative SB 16 AWE 64, Win 98

That's an Oldie!

You may need to open the "Box" and check the Chip number
on the Sound card to be sure to get the right drivers.
(Win 95 dirvers may work as well).

Try these links Col. AT:

Thanx Ernie, thanx for the mail to

Crying or Very sad This comp is an old bitch, new driver dint do it.

I dont know maybe its the hand crank relise spring thats gone capput..

What do one do with to old computers, is it alowed to put em down?
Im thinking, a dogs year is what? like 7 human years?
What is a compurer year? like 25 human years?
Well, if so this old bird is 300 human years or so, give or take. Thats a respectable age. I shows all the signes of an oldie to, reumatism = dont start sometimes, senilety = lost data. Get stuck in a sentence and just stare = freeze.
Maybe its time for it to rest, given all its CC played on it.

Brrr

Sorry to hear the bad news AT.
I was hoping those drivers would work for you!

I know what you mean about those OLD computers,
I have an 233mhz Pentium that I built 10 years ago
and it still runs.....It's like an OLD pair of comfortable
shoes that I hate to throw out!

Don't give up, keep looking for those drivers, you
might get lucky....Don't forget about the main chip
number on that vid board....as you may know, it's very
important when finding the right drivers....

GOOD Luck

Hello again, ok thats no problem,if you can have a look inside your pc,try re seating the soundcard or try another pci slot (or ISA slot).

Windows should pick it up as new hardware and ask for drivers.

Something to try Smile

Good luck

Hello again AT_Stalky, i used to have an AWE64 value edition or it could have been a Gold ,but sometimes had conflicts with other cards mainly my old 56k US robotics fax modem,i cured it by just moving slots Smile if free.

Creative might have done an ISA version like my old AWE 32 which i still have Smile

Hope you get it working Smile

Good luck

Hello again

Im afraid this PC has come to the end of its lifespan.
Yes, Correct the 3Com net card had the conflict with sound. Removed it, and sound work.
But at that time it come a memmory error, even though just upstarted, 128 mb, try start IE and it say, not enough memory.. (yes totaly new Win98 install)
I dont know I feel like give it up.

Maybe seniors home is the way, I hear the moaning from the poor old CPU; listen: "Please, no more war games, Im old, I whant to run something respectable as MS Words, thats fitting for a old retired PC.."

Brrr, run my sons comp now...

PostPosted: Sat Feb 23, 2008 4:51 pm Post subject: old computer Reply with quote

Hello AT_Stalky well at least the awe64 is ok ? thought it might be a conflict
Also Memory can go bad i had one where half the capacity failed so had to replace due to bad memory messages

A good thing to do is look at the boot sequence when the bios checks the memory capacity 128mb should be showing 131072k ,check that the memory is seated ok aswell and that its locked into place on the motherboard.

But in the end pc`s do get old and slow like us Smile
