maybe Shrecken has an updated link to the file

I'll hunt it down... where to host it though?

Has it not been hosted at CCS?

Are you running the game on an old PC or a new one?
Confused

Like out of the box new, but not a slouch....

Windows XP
AMD Athlon x64 4800+ Dual Core
nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX
4 GB of ram
twin 75GB Raptor RAID-ed hard-drives

I haven't tried it on my laptop yet. Maybe I'll do that tonight. Not that I really ever use my laptop while in my room at school and would want to just for one game...

This is irksome. Mad

Powerful PC! 4GB of RAM? So you're running Vista?
Can't help you there...I'm on Xp.

At a glance though...with such a powerful PC the jerky gameplay should have been caused by the dual core incompatibility.
Have you downloaded the AMD Dual Core patch? There's a separate drivers for AMD dual core procs for Xp...dunno for Vista.

Well, I mistyped that. I have 4 GB in there but not all of it is utilized because I'm running XP.

Is the AMD dual-core patch inherently different than the one someone posted from Microsoft earlier? Because I installed that and it worked... Or maybe not. After I installed the patch I had to reboot the PC, and like I said, when I turned the PC on this morning, CCV worked fine, but after I closed it and reopened it later it was back to the same old choppiness.

I'll try anything at this point. I'd really hate to have to restart every single time I wanna play CCV if I have already played it once already in that session.

Maybe it's a good thing I keep forgetting my CC IV disk at home when I go home for vacation. I'd be tearing my hair out... Lord knows what CC II would do...

I assumed Vista because the 4GB Wink
The dual core patch for AMD is different...it's highly recommended that you download install this. Gives you a lot better compatibility with older apps. Just google for the patch. I'm pretty sure this will fix your problems.

I'm running a slightly 'slower' system to yours:
Windows XP SP2
AMD Athlon X2 4000+ Dual Core
nVidia GeForce 8600 GT 256MB
1,5 GB of ram
160GB HDD

I can run CC3-CC5 (haven't installed CC2 in a while...will try later today) fine...playing over and over (without slowdowns)...I play battles between working on my PC Wink
Actually...I can usually multitask while playing CC5 (ie: play a game, pause it...work on a Photoshop project...come back to the game...back to Photoshop etc). Since CC take so little resource from modern PCs...you can extract/compress and burn DVD movies in the background while playing CC5 Very Happy

To make things easier, I'm using the CC Starter util from CSO.

Don't you wish you could play CC in a window?

Why would I want to do that?
That would only work if you had a huge monitor/LCD...or a dual-display setup (work on the left, CC game on the right...yeah!).
Playing the game full-screen mode on my 20" LCD...I still want to see more details in my beloved tiny soldiers' uniforms...why would I want to limit the view in a window? Wink

I play a lot while I work...vmw3are works but I'd rather it could be played windowed.

Also you don't have to "PAUSE" the game while attending to other tasks.

There's a thought for ppl with latest PC's.

Try Vmware or VirtualPC (free download from MS) and run a virtual copy of win98 to reach CC nirvana.

Works for me with the bonus of multitasking while playing.

Nice...but that would mean that you need to re-install the CC games on your VM install right? Not very practical as I have almost all the CC5 mods already installed (on seperate folders) on WinXP Wink
