Look at how the 'CC4Classic' folder is setup in the main directory

Create a folder for you mod files using the same directory structure of close combat. Include any mod files in their proper folder. Create a shortcut with the target of your CCE.exe followed by '/D your mod name here'

This is the /D switch function. Basically, you are telling the CCE.exe to launch, but to use whatever files are inside the mod folder instead of the originals. Any files that are needed, but not in the mod folder, will default to the stock files.

So, for example, my desktop shortcut for the Classic CC4 game looks like:
"C:\Matrix Games\Close Combat Wacht am Rhein\CCE.exe" /D CC4Classic

very simple and no little swap programs anymore

I now understand the reason for an updated CCStarter. If you guys don't mind I will couple it with an Inno Setup Script so that mods can be easily installed. But this will take me some time. Give me a couple of days maybe a week from now.

Very good and I thought on some as this when I saw the bonus cc4 but I did not look for on files. It is as on many other games.

Ah I have tested it with the AOVetBoB and it runs very well. Thanks by the good work.

While I love the given Mod structure and test an installer script which I will release here shortly and if wished in the matrix forums too, I'm thinking about maybe using a 'central' map folder. Or is this something which is not possible ?

Or is is this way:
a) If a mod don't need customised maps there's no folder maps under moddir and the modded game will use the standard maps.

b)If a mod need only some additional maps there's an additional folder with the new maps needed as well as taking the maps from the standard map folder.

Just interesting Wink

Yes. On mod folder you only put the files that you have edited, all the other files are from the original WAR game.

If you add some new maps, you need add one new StratMap.txt and next game will load the maps from the mod maps folder and from the original folder if it needs anyone from it.

I have been thinging it and..........without a plugin manager only advanced windows users can run a mod because if your game folder is different, people will need edit the shotcut from mod anytimes. Of course for it we can make small instructions.

It's just a matter of editing the properties of the shortcut if you have your game installed to anywhere but the default location.

If you are up to installing to a differnt location than the default you should be able to edit the shortcut properties easily enough.

Default

"C:\Matrix Games\Close Combat Wacht am Rhein\CCE.exe" /D CC4Classic

Some alternatives

"C:\Program Files\Matrix Games\Close Combat Wacht am Rhein\CCE.exe" /D CC4Classic

"C:\Program Files\CC Series\Close Combat Wacht am Rhein\CCE.exe" /D CC4Classic

"D:\Games\Close Combat Wacht am Rhein\CCE.exe" /D CC4Classic

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
