hi all,

im playing COD WaW, and its sometimes laggy(mind u its usually when 20 japs are doing a bunzai charge at me and my flame thrower is glowing white hot, tanks are driving past, 200mm guns are firing at me on peilii beach 1944,and my platoon has been blown to pieces by jap HMGs), tested my pc speed with nova bench 2, got a very 'average' score of 273,i regularly clean my pc with stock windows cleaner, defrag weekly, have AVG8 and Spybot (not slow nortons etc) and my 250gighdd is almost90% free, as i have a backup 250 gig hdd for photos, movies, games i dont play often etc...

any ideas?
test below:

Your HD write speed is VERY low, even most crappy USB sticks have a faster write speed than 13mb/s, if it's really 13mb/s, you should get a better disk or if you have one allready, recheck the settings. My Samsung F1 750 does about 80-90 mb/s avg and my WD raptor 300G does about 120 mb/s avg. You should notice alot of improvement with a better HD/better configured HD, since the HD is allways the slowest part in a pc.

EDIT: ok I just ran that novabench and the F1 did 37mb/s and raptor did 55 mb/s. Which is kinda odd when HDtune and ATTO and all other disk benchmarks i know report way higher write speeds. Still I would check with one of the other benches.

GeForce 9800 GT is equivalent to the old 8800GT series...but at 1280x1024 you should have great framerates. My 8600GT can only manage 1024x768 at all high details.
BTW, lowering AA will boost your framerate too.
I'm on my 2nd round replaying CoD5...amazing atmosphere...and the gore...nice!

I don't either...I have a 20" non-wide LCD.
Non-wide is better for tactical wargaming Smile

Yeah, but CoD is FPS so wide screen and wide resolution is better.

True...but I spend more time playing tactical wargames (like CC) compared to FPS.
FPS looks fine in normal res too, IMHO...as long as you have a big enough LCD.
Movies look better in widescreen Very Happy

i have a 4:3, its my preference for now,
was considering tonight as wife is going out for dinner for a few hours of hooking it up to my Sony 40" LCD 1920*1080 60hz.

my computer shop guy said Raid 0 is biggest jump u can do, better then any 1500rpm drive(raptor etc). so tomorrow raid 0 again, its a pain in the ass with XP as i have to steal a floppy from old pc(have 2 PC, 2 HTPC,1 laptop),load drivers, reinstall(current xp only a week old anyhow), so tonight i burn some 12 + dvd disks of my music, movies, pictures, downloaded games,apps,maps..then load floppy, then the big F...then ill have the race PC...only XP64 (software wise)would make my girl faster now.

tried v tune accelerator to 100% capable, crashed in testing...bad...set back to stock, then up about 50%.

WaW unlocked game is awsome...i havent got past round 4....played game to end on veteran in 2 days...way kool, left fingers all sore, RSI is setting in.

SPOILER ALERT..........................

ITS "NAZI ZOMBIES"
UR traped in a house, stairs upstairs blocked, windows boarded,u start with a colt,500 points, can buy a mauser only, garand carbine, thompson, shotgun all over a grand, u need to kill nazi zombies trying to break in,get points for killing, buy more guns and try to live...when i reload the barstards always nail me. music is amazing...

CHECK OUT THE PERFORMANCE WITH RAID 0!

took me half the day, 1 headake to do it, i had wrong nvidia drivers loaded, floppy's had 95% failure rate(most 10+ years old),went out bought new floppy and disks,$10 later, loaded drivers from nvidia CD this time...DOH!

now check the difference!

worst past was big backup, 19 single sided DVD's!!!!

CC games took 4 dvds alone.
