There are still some limits concerning the filenames of the input/output files and their sequence.

Really?  I don't have to delete the gadget file before repacking with GadgetMunger.  I've upacked and repacked the ScrnGadg and GameGadg of CC3 to TLD multiple times without deleting the original (a copy of the original, of course).  I do recall doing so years ago.  Perhaps I have a version that was tweeked by TheBlood!, though it still shows as v1.0.  Give the attached one a test.  Some ScrnGadg have been extracted and repacked more than 50 times without an error or file corruption.

Same here - it repacks without problems. Maybe it was some very, very old buggy version?

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited and
found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some of the great Close Combat
mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank all the members of our volunteer staff that have
helped over the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
