1. Correct menu sizes for widescreen monitor's (currently it shows black borders around the menu's).

2. An option to switch beteen a solid and transparent 'inset map'.

3. Fix A.I. controlled tanks from doing "donuts of death" (circles).  Twisted Evil

4. New sounds for the BAR, Thompson, .30cal, M2, MG-34, StG-44 and MG-42 (both light and heavy).

5. Replacement map for 'Dasburg'.

6. Improve survivability of 'AT' and 'IG' guns.

7. New menu music.

All these changes for the new WaR patch.

Well...the stock CCWAR uniforms look really pathetic!
The vehicles and their camo schemes were redone beautifully (on par with VetBoB's vehicles)...but the soldier uniforms are from stock CC4...plus additional pathetic touches like US AB with brown uniforms (probably representing khaki M42 jumpsuits...which were not used anymore at Wacht Am Rhein).  The stock German uniforms also look cartoonish at best  Wink
I've worked on a new uniforms.txt based on VetBoB...but I'm not completely satisfied with them yet.

Here's what I did with the German uniforms (based on VetBoB)...I can PM you the uniforms.txt file if you like.
I'm still not 100% satisfied with my Allied uniforms though.

KG Peiper/1st SS (no winter gear):

KG Kuhlman/12th SS (winter gear/snow camo):

295th/18th Volksgrenadier Div (no winter gear):

190th/62nd VG Div (winter gear/snow camo):

15th/5th Fallschirmjager Div (no winter gear):

14th/5th Fallschirmjager Div (winter gear/snow camo):

I see you changed the health icons (faces) next to soldier rank. You should release these things.  Cool

Nice work with the uniforms.

^^^

Thanks, Digs!  Smile
Yeah...when the official patch comes out...I might release my custom mod (mostly graphics stuff, plus some minor data tweaks) for both CCWAR and CCTLD.

Soldier Heads icons?  Yeah...I used them for BoS45...grew to love them and started using them on all my CC installs.
I just can't stand the 'minimalistic' original skull graphics anymore...yuck!
They're based on Corporal Punishment's idea and artwork with minor modifications (as seen in the BoS45 demo)...but I've also created a new version with new head graphics for WIA and KIA soldiers (I didn't like Cpl Punishment's KIA skull and WIA head).

Some screenies of my latest soldier heads thingie...they're from CCTLD, sorry...I haven't got a recent screenshot of CCWAR ready.

Squadleader_id:

I like those uniforms,I wouldnt mind using them once your all done.
I also like the new Soldier head Icons.Love the bandage but can't make out the Dead soldier.

I'm still looking for images to use for the BGIcons, trying to find some to use for the different Soldiers seems to be the hardest to find.I'm sick and tired of the stock Icons and how some are used way to many times over.

I figure thats my first step, then having a Jeep, then Force Pools.

I prefer Squadleaders heath icons, sorry Schrecken.

Squadleader,
I realy like what you did with the battlegroup unit icons. They look like they would be much easier to make out during the heat of battle.

Thanks...I'll send you the uniforms.txt file when I'm done fiddling with it a bit more.
As for KIA soldier heads, Cpl Punishment used a 3D style skull...but they look more like faces with white masks.
I tried experimenting with faded/blurry heads for KIA...but they don't really stand out...especially next to bandaged heads.  Since the face is so small...a face with closed eyes just didn't work either...and I didn't want a face crossed out with an "X" or something like that.  So I came up with the "slumped" dead soldier design...with just the top of the head/helmet remaining in view ...and the red background standing out.  Artistically...you can look at the KIA head as either the soldier died and is slumped on the ground...or he's gone and only the helmet is left  Smile
Just like the original red skull design..it's really easy to spot KIAs in your squads in the heat of battle...this time just look for those slumped heads and helmets.

BTW, Cpl Punishment's original design featured just the head graphics without the background color...I decided to add the background color since we're used to seeing those tiny skulls in green, yellow, orange, red and white  Wink

I'm actually 'qualified' to work on custom BG Icons (see my BoS45 mod)...but they take way too much time  Sad

BTW Digs, the BG Icons in CCTLD are not my work...IIRC Jim Martin (S3T) designed them based on Neil Nello's work on the CCMT BG Icons.  Personally I like them a lot...I like the wargamey style...but lots of CC vets prefer either B/W WW2 photos or color artwork like the original CC4/CC5.

Artistic considerations asside....

The new BG Team icons are by far the easiest to recognise during a hectic battle... way a head of photos and CC4/5 styled artwork

I wouldnt say way ahead. The artwork from the originals is just that, art. This new stuff was probably ripped from some 20 year old army sim, atleast it looks that way! As with any game, as you play it you start to recognize what icons are and do what. Making a bazooka team icon a bazooka doesnt make it easier, just makes it different and less creative!

Seriously, who had trouble finding the right teams in a hectic battle? They are named first of all, and the artwork usually resembled the teams armament.

I would even venture to say selecting units from the team display is not all that common in a hectic battle.  The team display is more or less to check the status then give orders.

So to sumamrize my moaning... Less simulator graphics and more game artwork.

I actually agree with you on this one, Shreckie  Smile

The best of both worlds would be "artwork" for the BG mainscreens (screengadg)...and "wargame counters" for the battle screens (gamegadg).
It's a matter of preference of course...but AFVs look more appealing presented as "artwork" compared to "wargame counters".
I have to agree with Mooxe though...the "wargame counters" do look a lot easier to (mass) produce  :)

BTW, I personally love the "wargame counters" style because I'm a retired SL/ASL (CC's spiritual ancestor) player  Wink

WaR would be much more playable with a better strategic map. Either connections must be made between each map, or actual geographical barriers need to be represented on the map. Thats a start.
