Howdy,

How do you exactly use soldier color? I read AT Stalky's reply on a previous post, but what exe or file do you exactly open and save the edit at? (The Readme wasn't clear, though it probably doesn't help that I'm a bit dense)

Is it the CC5 exe, and what if I'm trying to change the uniform colors from a mod, say Nomada's 1946?

Yup...the CC5.exe.
Most if not all mods have their own custom CC5.exe (which handles custom mod data like soldier colors and Stratmap data).

If only some genius would update it to detect the relevant code wherever it lurks in every CC exe file...

You can use SoldierColorEditor to edit uniforms colors for CC2-CC5.
For the re-releases...use Mafi's latest RtBTool to export the data into uniforms.txt files.
I'm not sure about editing CCMT uniforms though...IIRC there's a separate (unreleased?) editor for CCMT...CMIIW.

Do a search for Close Combat Series Soldier Color Indexes.xls...this helps out a lot too (incl. a nice set of offset values for manual hex editing!).

On my to-do list is getting the winter uniforms right for COI. I had various shots at this over a year ago and gave up due to time commitments as the offsets  never quite worked despite following the hex editing instructions to a tee.... the best result gave psychedelic uniform colours.

I don't understand your point about RtB tool and uniforms.txt files as there is no uniforms.txt file in COI.

If there is a way to edit COI winter uniform colours without using a hex editor then I'd be eternally grateful to anyone who can enlighten me on it.

I forgot about CoI.
Use SoldierColorEditor on the CC3.exe (to get the uniform values)...then you have to hex-edit the offset range in the CoI.exe...replacing them with the values from your edited CC3.exe.
The Soldier Color Indexes excel file should help you with finding the right offset ranges to edit.

Yeah, I think I tried all this before without success.

If there is anyone else who has successfully edited COI winter uniforms it'd be interesting to hear if they encountered any problems doing that.

Otherwise I'll probably need a few days with no distractions to work the thing out.

Hi, Pzt_Kanov...as per our PM...have you downloaded and installed the patch?
I sent one of my custom TLD uniforms.txt to the developers for the patches.
There are some unused uniform slots in that uniforms.txt file with stock TLD data though...you can mod the Alsteams & Axsteams to enable them.
Have fun! Smile

Yes I just downloaded it but only played a couple of battles because I was at work and I didn't notice changes but maybe it was because I was playing the GC and it was night, now I'm downloading the patch and installing it at home. Will take a look at the files, seems much easier now.

Thanks!

Is there a means of being able to view ones changes for the re-releases.(via SoldierColorEditor)?
I've looked at the Uniform.txt but have no idea what the #'s mean or do.
I'm currently playing Firefox's mod for WAR and have to admit the different color uniforms are much nicer.
And at one time werent you doing some uniforms for WAR too?
