installing CC2 and its patches depends on the operation system you are using (Mac or PC?)
Now a short desc. for Windows95/98:
first of all you need
- CC2 original CD.
- the updater from Microsoft v2.0b.
- the mod you want to install.
Next: installing CC2
- make a full install on your HD from your CD.
- run the updater.
Then installing mods: manually!
- exchanging the original files by the ones coming out of the mod.
- be sure not to reduce the number of battle-folders!
- do not produce gaps within the map number concept.
- if you want to add custom maps for slot 400 or above, use Ugur's method. In this case you must manipulate the base file "Batnames".

Hey man, this was already described in 1998. Not everything still in my brain, so I recommend to read some guides from my site! There are PDF. A comprehensive example of a mod-install process should be within the CC2-Afrika-Mod.

Hi again, Matthew,
here is the needed example out of the Afrika-Mod:
How to install on PC:
- place original game CD in your CD-ROM drive,
- make a full install of CC2,
- download the latest CC2 updater from the Internet (v2.0b),
- update the file "CC2.exe" to v2.0b using this updater,
- duplicate the folder where CC2 is installed,
- give the duplicated folder a suitable new name like "CC2 Afrika mod",
- all operation described now must be done inside this duplicated folder:
- delete all files inside the subfolder "Graphics\Maps",
- unzip all the mod's map files and place all the files
named "BGMap###", "OVMap###", "MMMap###", "Bridg###",
"Roof###" (where ### stands for three digits) into the
subfolder "Graphics\Maps",
- unzip CC2Afrika-Vehicles.zip and place the entire
contents into the subfolder "Graphics",
- unzip CC2Afrika-SoundFilePC.zip and place the sound file
"Sounds.cc2" into the subfolder "Sounds",
- unzip CC2Afrika-GraphicFiles.zip and place the entire
contents into the subfolder "Graphics",
- when reading this file you will have already unzip this
archive, if not, do it now. Take care to preserve the
folder hierarchy while extracting from the archive.
- the resulting folder "Data" must replace the existing
subfolder "Data". This folder contains the latest updates
for Map###/Map###.los files, too,
- the files out of the resulting folder "Games\Battles”
must go into the subfolder of the same name,
- unzip the CC2Afrika-SoldierColorPatch.zip, unzip
CC2AfrikaSoldierColorPat(PC.zip and run Nembo's
"CC2AfrikaSoldierColorPatch.exe" to patch the "CC2.exe" and
"cc2rsrc.dll",
- place the original CD in the CD-ROM drive, double click
the new "CC2.exe" and after first launch of the mod disable
videos (use "F8" to get to the menu).
- for re-enabling the intrinsic battlemaker functionality (which will
be disabled by the mod) use my tool CCBmaker.exe. I recommend
to place it inside the mod's folder.
So you see, it has to be done manually. But for some mods, there is a Config-Package (for Zeppo9's utility) out there, or even the completely installed mod within one folder. In such a case, read the ReadMe-file of the package.
Most the time, the CC2 gamer just want to try a single custom map. The maximum size of files for a single map is 7 files. The Roof- and the Bridge-file can miss and are not required (for CC2/3):
- Map### (the data file, plain text, can be edited with MS-Excel),
- Map###.los (the LOS-file, binary data),
- BGMap### (the background graphics, 16-bit, TARGA-similiar),
- OVMap### (the overview graphics),
- MMMap### (monitoring minimap graphics),
- Roof### (the roof interior/exterior graphics),
- Bridg### (the bridge blown / bridge repaired graphics).
### stands for three digits, ranging from 100 to 999. No experiences yet with numbers higher than 407.
The "Map###" and "Map###.los" files must be placed in the folder "/Data/Maps".
The other (graphical) files must be placed in the folder "/Graphics/Maps".
As already said: for just testing a custom map, take the new files into a separate folder, give them the names fitting to the intended map slot. Take the original maps and drag them into another new folder (safe place) or rename them. Then drag the custom map files into the suitable places.

Hi there,
Sorry I probably post here in the wrong place. I don't understand how to install the 1940 mod for CC2. The downloaded archive file contains the "battle HQ" program, which asks for a login and pw. And when I try to create an account, I get this webpage where I can't manage to create this account.

Hi Mafi,
I'm interested in some of these mods too, and I followed your instructions as far as duplicating the ABTF folder, but there is no 'Graphics/maps' subfolder (see pic). This might be because I'm using XP instead of W98.
If that's the case, do you think it's only possible to use these mods if we set up a dual boot with W98/XP? I already have XP/W7 dual boot and it would take a bit of research to set up a 3-way OS option, - which I'd rather avoid.

Many thanks for your interest in helping us.
Scipper.
there is no need to install win98 or to set up a dual boot win98/winXP: ABTF it just work fine on winXP;
the Graphics/maps is located in the main ABTF folder

Turns out the reason those subfolders weren't there was because I'd done the Typical installation instead of the Full one.
I've followed the other instructions and the mod is now working well, except that I wasn't able to do the uniform colours because I can't find Nembo's patch. When I unzipped the whole mod, I just got an excel file (SoldierColPatch(Mac&PC)).
unzip the CC2Afrika-SoldierColorPatch.zip, unzip
CC2AfrikaSoldierColorPat(PC.zip and run Nembo's
"CC2AfrikaSoldierColorPatch.exe" to patch the "CC2.exe" and
"cc2rsrc.dll",
