PostPosted: Tue Feb 23, 2010 12:05 am Post subject: Mods Don't Work on Windows 7 Reply with quote

I had several mods installed (including GJS) on CC5 on my old laptop which ran Vista.  Got a new laptop with Windows 7, and repeated the entire download and install, but now the mods don't work.  Instead, I get a message that says something like:

"Failed to copy C:\Program Files\SSI\Close Combat Invasion Normandy\Data\Battles\Acqueville to System\Original\Acqueville because C:\Program Files\SSI\Close Combat Invasion Normandy\Data\Battles\Acqueville does not exist"

The other crazy part is that even though I tried to install several mods, and uninstalled after then didn't work, the game wouldn't revert to vanilla...instead I had the "title page" for the  last attempted mod pop up and I couldn't run anything.  Had to reinstall CC5 to get back to vanilla game.

Any advice?  Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the response...

I'm running in English and did install the patch.  I did the same thing I did on the old laptop, but with no luck this time....

I saw some other posts in the Utah mod forum where ppl were having the same problem.  I guess its something different in the installation for windows 7.  Going to try the old, 'flick the switch until it comes on method' and reinstall...maybe that'll work.

Copy and paste to us the folder where CC5 is located. I suspect his is the very very common x86 problem.

No, I didn't install into program files (86).  I did initially, but once I realized, I deleted and reinstalled into the proper program files folder.  The updated version of the game runs fine- its the mods that give me trouble.

And the plot thickens....

I was able to install and run the Utah mod...but then I got greedy and tried to install the Bloody Omaha mod.... which promptly brought up the error message about Acquville and something else about and Atom video/logo, etc....

Any help?

Much obliged.

Acqueville is a stock CC5 battle that the Bloody Omaha mod is trying to backup, install.txt line shown below.

copy $CC\Data\Battles\Acqueville $ORG\Acqueville

Maybe the Utah mod uninstall isn't putting the battle back???

The video directory is required by CC5.exe that has the CD check removed, thus you must create/have a video directory in the CC5 directory to run it. There is a custom intro video for Bloody Omaha that you can download to use with the game when the mod is installed.
