Damn...no it didnt work, even tough I tried it two times.
It anoys me that the message reads "/../ CC.exe folder does not exist" because IT DOES EXIST...Grrrr
...so frustrated as I was I downloaded the El Alamein mod....and the smae thin(shit) happend:
Failed to copy C:\ Program Files\SSI\Close Combat Invasion Normandy\CC5.exe to System\Original\CC5.exe because C:\Program Files\SSI\Close Combat Invasion Normandy\CC5.exe does nor exist
Well...
I did that and deleted the FOLDER (the SSI folder, right?)
...and...Failed to copy C:\ Program Files\SSI\Close Combat Invasion Normandy\CC5.exe to System\Original\CC5.exe because C:\Program Files\SSI\Close Combat Invasion Normandy\CC5.exe does nor exist.
Ffffffffu.....sorry. Darn! the same thing.
What is it with my computer that it keeps saying that the CC5.exe dont exist...when IT DOES!!!!
Why cant (close combat) things just go smoothly for me?
Been trying to get that mode going for three days now.

Forget words, actions will show your true ambitions! The Battlefield,In many cases, the terrain of a battlefield can be the best resource a commander has. A clump of trees, an abandoned house, or a drainage ditch can all be powerful tools in the right hands

I suggest start fresh all over again. Do not forget to uninstall the CC5 patch as well. Uninstall your config mngr as well.
So a clean start
Install cc5 to the location where it wants to put itself (C drive program files)
Now install the patch, do not install that to the ssi folder if you need to select where to install it but somewhere els in c:/ programs.
Verify that you have the patch, on the mainscreen down right it should read version 5.01
Install your config manager somewhere on c:/drive NOT in the SSI folder (ref plugin manager guides here at the site)
Thaen install maps in pas folder etc etc.
REMEMBER when you install new maps of another mod, make sure you are switched back to the original game before installing the new maps.
Now Ive tried all that to, but no!
The same message...fu...!
And...I couldnt find any manuall "install download"!!!!
And again...just as I feared, the game crashed, error message something with "corelli draw couldnt bla, bla, bla"
So I guess I just have to give up. Here I am with a new computer and I cant get this mod going (and now Ill say it) FUCK!
Thanks for the suport!
.....maybe another tip?
Cheers
When you got that message it is surely a Computer related problem...jag har själv varit förbannad över det!!!Even if you have a new computer you cant be sure of that Close Combat works!!! If you really want to play CC through away XP and install Win 98, i did...
Another tip, if you have CC3, make a full install of that game because i have noticed that during the install it updates windovs. The Direct Draw error is an old problem for this community
I am running it now using 98 mode. But the problem was that I didnt get the plugin version to start. So now Im running the game after I copied all the files in to folders manualy. That is a bit sad though because using plugin manager is a very nice option (that I cant use!!!)
(Så nu skiter jag i plugin mangern och spelar berlin ändå...och än så länge funkar det...ta i trä)
In my point of view BoB is one of the best mods for CC so far.
Only thing I somehow dont like is that German Inf teams mainly carry 30Panzerfäuste not 60 or 100.They have very less chance to kill JS and stop armourd masses. Also the Panzerschreck is useless pretty often,a T34 isnt knocked out after an sidehit with Panzerschreck on 100-150 Meters...
I think Infanterie AT should be raised,in 1945 most units where equiped with betterthen 30 panzerfaust.Panzerschreck isnt a great help against Tanks either in game

There is another point in BoB I realy dont like. The tankbattels.
After 2-3 shoots tank vs tank most of the time the same happens ,Maingun damaged or chain broken =tank useless...My Königstiger get killed by an T34 at 50 meters Sidehit,on the otherhand my tiger need 5 shots to kill an Stug at 60 meters .I would like to know how the damagesystem is managed in that mod.Königstiger have very less chances to kill 3-4 T34 on open field I cant understand that.I think the Tank-damagesystem should be redone to make it more acurate.

In August of 2004, Zappi, Homba, Bambam887, RedScorpion and MOOXE all pitched
in to create this Close Combat site. I would to thank all the people who have visited
and found this site to thier liking. I hope you had time to check out some
of the great Close Combat mods and our forums. I'd also like to thank
all the members of our volunteer staff that have helped over
the years, and all our users that contributed to this site!
